It's cute!HarlowHonestly, I thought it was broken when I got it home and tried it out. It turned out that the wrong bulbs were displayed next to the lamps in the store. Make sure you have a DIMMABLE bulb and you'll be fine. I have two for my nightstands and I think they look fantastic. My only critique is that the glass should be thicker. The shades seem pretty fragile.4

DeeDeeGoBoomI love the aesthetic of this lamp. It is super unique and stylish. That being said, I purchased two lamps. One worked perfectly. The other had a short which caused the light to flicker. I returned the defective lamp to Ikea, purchased a new one, got it home and it had the same problem. I tried other outlets and multiple bulbs to make sure the problem was with the lamp. So there appears to be some sort of design flaw if the same malfunction is happening with multiple lamps. But I love the look of this lamp so much that I’m willing to make the drive to ikea again to try for a third time.3

Material

What is glass?

Glass is mainly made of sand, soda, and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.

"When I designed TÄRNABY I wanted to create a lamp that provides mood lighting which is soft and warm. I was inspired by old kerosene lamps, and used glass so that the light bulb is visible and becomes a decorative touch, just like the flame in older lamps. I was also inspired by the kerosene lamp’s flexibility in the home. That’s why the brightness can be adjusted with the dimmer on the side ‒ and even though it has a cord, the lamp is easy to place and move around."
