Quality has notably decreasedBrianaI have this exact chair from over 5 years ago. I bought another one because I loved it so much. While the shape is still the same, the construction is noticeably worse. The think I notice daily is that the shape of the arms seems to be held up with some thin flexible material. If I press on the arms at all, I can feel and hear what seems like thin cardboard flexing. Considering the chair has likely gone up in price, the decrease in quality is really disappointing.

Wonderful Chair!MaryMy son has had this chair for about five years. I visited him last year and enjoyed sitting in the chair. I returned home and ordered the chair and matching foot stool in gray. I used the YouTube on line directions to assemble. Very easy except for the last piece, but I did it! I am 75!
The material is easy to clean and use a hand vac to remove kitty fur. For the money, the chair is well made and very comfortable; looks great in my family room. I just ordered another one!
Cute but imperfect CoreyThe chair is cute and comfortable but some of the details show that it is not made very well. You can clearly see the upholstery staples throughout the entire side of the chair and the two side panels had some splintering when I opened the package. Overall it is nice enough for a bedroom reading nook.

I Built One of ThoseTerri LI’m a fan of Strandmon . The vibberbo black and beige is in my living room . Pattern on living room furniture is new to me . Possibly one of my better furniture decisions made when putting the space together was choosing pattern. I love everything about Strandmon -the style, shape and pattern added to my eclectic mix of furnishings that ranges from Victorian antiques to mid century modern. The modern take of the wing chair blends together the decades . I find the chair a comfortable sitter and generally find myself there . I have the gray one in my bedroom too.
Best and Most Comfortable ChairsAnthonyI purchased two Strandmon chairs and ottoman's about three years ago in dark gray. They are placed on either side of a window in our den and my wife and I use them to start every day. We have our coffee and review the news and discuss the day's schedule. They are amazingly comfortable and have held up very well. These are our go-to chairs for reading (and napping). Please don't change the design - it's perfect.
My cats love it tooPrekshaI’ve wanted this chair for years and actually bought it off fb marketplace bc I was afraid of spending so much for my cats to just shred it up. Turns out it holds up extremely well to cat claws — not a tear so far and boy have they tried!!

I wish IKEA have had introduced this chair in the white cotton and best yet if this chair would have a washable cover.
White upholstery like it is available on some sofas is ideal because it works with any decor and it is washable and even bleachable so idea for so many of us who own pets.
The chair is very comfortable. Not soft and soggy but on a bit firm side however it is profiled in such a way that very nicely supports comfortable relaxed body posture and is high enough to nicely rest the head on its back wall.
I would truly believe that those chairs would sell in billions if they would make a white cotton cover for it. Also I would love to be able to buy a chair in one finish and cover in other finish so in my case I would love to see a blue velvet/velour chair and be able to smack on it the washable cover or the other way around.

Attractive NancyIt’s an attractive chair with fun lines. If you want a stiff chair that holds you upright it’s very good, if you want to sink into a comfy chair, it’s not that. It also was hard to put together. All that said, I love how it looks in my home.
MY FAVORITE CHAIR EVERMaryI've had my eye on this chair for years and finally splurged and got it last spring, along with the ottoman. It's in my home office and every time I sit in it, it's a treat. The angle of the seat to the back makes it just a little like reclining, and the wings on each side make dozing off easier on my neck. I've had some solid naps in this chair. It looks nice, and everyone compliments it. I would love to get a couple more for the living room. Don't hesitate: get this chair!

Nice chair but difficult to buildJoseI’ve only had this chair (with separate cover) for a few days. It’s comfortable and substantial. The HUGE negative - as other reviewers have mentioned - is bolting the side wings to the bottom frame. It took me over an hour of pulling/pushing side wings to align the holes to the bolt in an area of the product with very little visibility. It’s near impossible! Finally aligned bolts and used my own wrenches to tighten for the tool it comes with is near useless.

Black dye bleeds when trying to cleanI.Black/white houndstooth pattern chair looks good until the high-touch areas like armrests started turning yellow from sweat probably. When trying to clean the black dye smears over the white and makes it look much worse. It's a piece of furniture that should be cleaned if necessary. Definitely don't get it if you have kids or pets. Because once it gets dirty the only solution is to toss it out and then what? Get a new one from IKEA? I guess that's their business model.

Does not clean well.DennisWe bought two gray chairs last Fall. I have tried to clean the fabric, following the directions posted, and have been unsuccessful in getting normal “wear” dirt out. Also, the arms move slightly causing a squeaking sound. Should I bring both chairs back for return?

From vintage sitting to modern life
Do you sometimes get a little nostalgic? We do. That’s why we created STRANDMON wing chair. Its design is inspired by an IKEA chair from the 50’s called MK – a favorite of the IKEA founder, Ingvar Kamprad. It was even on the cover of our first catalogue. But how could it be refreshed and adapted to today’s demands? Well, we found a few ways…
Like the quality. Back in the 50’s, most people used chairs just to sit in. Nowadays, we curl up in our chairs, drape our legs over armrests and eat where we sit. We put higher demands on our furniture. Our product developer Ulf Engström explains what STRANDMON has to put up with. “It’s tested to make sure it can take a person that sits and gets up at least 50,000 times. That’s the same as sitting and getting up once a day for 136 years.”

The wing chair perhaps had its golden era long ago, but who knows, it might be considered a must-have in people's homes once again. “People have changed the way they live since the 50's, but the need for affordable quality furniture is still the same.
