Absolutely love this chair and ottoman!DorleneI’ve been looking for the right entry chair where people can sit to take off boots and shoes but functional as well and let me tell you! This wing chair and ottoman turned my entry area into the sweetest reading nook ever with a tall light with white globe lights from IKEA as well set on a timer for winter. When I come in I just want to immediately snuggle in with a good book for the evening. So comfy and just the right size for me.5
A bit mixedSharonThis chair is so comfortable. However, it was ridiculously hard to put together because the bolt holes didn’t line up. There are only 4 bolts and 2 screws, should have been quick and easy. It looks nice but you can tell it was a build-at-home chair by the way the pieces don’t quite line up.4

Cute but tough to assemble - staple hanging outJaime H.I’ve been purchasing and building ikea furniture for nearly 20 years. Tables, chairs, lamps, etc but this product got the best of me. All was well till it got to mounting the sides to the rest of the chair. You have to line it up perfectly while having X-ray vision! Pretty sure I stripped the cheap particleboard after it arrived today as I had to screw/unscrew it so many times. Not looking forward to this falling apart on me. Plus, I nicked my hand on some random staple sticking out from the inside through the middle of the side panel fabric? Ikea isn’t what it used to be - quality control and creative construction is sorely lacking now!2
Great Chair, Easy Assembly, Needs added lumbar supportAaronPurchased two for a room. Looks great, easy to assemble. Cushions are pretty stiff, although I wasn't expecting plush soft cushions. At first, my back was getting sore after short sessions. Purchased lumbar pillows for added support for longer sitting sessions. With the added lumbar pillow, I now find them comfortable for long periods.4
Strand on wood piece keeps breakingDanielle W.I bought this chair 11 months ago and absolutely loved it. I like the comfortable arm rests, high back and the fabric. However, the wooden beam that connects the back legs to the chair snapped when I sat down one day. I did return it for a replacement ( great customer service). However, after I assembled the new chair and moved it (same day), the same piece snapped off. I do plan on returning the chair tomorrow. I still haven’t decided if I will request a refund or get store credit. But I am very disappointed in the poor craftsmanship. Especially because the price went up $50.00 ( ikea did cover the extra cost). I might have to look elsewhere for another chair for my room.3
Perfect chairJESSICAIf you're on the front about this chair just spend the money and buy it. You will not be disappointed. This chair is exceptionally comfortable and stylish to boot5

Missing PartKENTLike chair now that it’s put together but eating based on sealed box not including all parts needed to assemble. We do not live close to an IKEA and needed chair to be assembled - husband has access to a machine shop and they Jerry- rigged a part that worked but when reaching out to IKEA for modest compensation the only thing they offered was a replacement part. Not at all satisfied with their customer service or policies. Buyer beware that IKEA leaves you hanging out to dry if there is a problem.2
Love this chair!Christina C.I'm so happy with my purchase! The reviews about assembly had me nervous, but I had zero issues putting it together (and I've never put together a piece of furniture in my life). Love the gorgeous green color!5
Run don't walk away from this particular chair.Judith W.I have no idea how this chair is getting 5 star reviews. Yes, the green fabric is beautiful, but assembly? Something wrong here and yes, it is all over the internet. It's not just us. The side sections are ridiculous to align. One chair took hours (no I am not kidding). Using a highlighter around the pre drilled holes and a pen lite and two able bodied people -- the next chair took days. Only because we walked away and came back to it. If there is availability in your area to get it assembled, do it! It will save you harsh words, tears and total aggravation. Ikea really should fix this issue -- it is posted everywhere about this particular chair. Oh also, lots of loose threads, shady looking stapling to hold down the fabric etc.1

Similar issue with the Wing not able to attach the base.Naing L.After one and half hour of trying multiple attempt to screw the wing to the base. I gave up. it was impossible or no where near to line up the two hole. You better try assemble that on the parking lot before bring it home. It's not that difficult. If it line-up, it should only take less than 30 mins.1
From vintage sitting to modern life
Do you sometimes get a little nostalgic? We do. That’s why we created STRANDMON wing chair. Its design is inspired by an IKEA chair from the 50’s called MK – a favorite of the IKEA founder, Ingvar Kamprad. It was even on the cover of our first catalogue. But how could it be refreshed and adapted to today’s demands? Well, we found a few ways…
Like the quality. Back in the 50’s, most people used chairs just to sit in. Nowadays, we curl up in our chairs, drape our legs over armrests and eat where we sit. We put higher demands on our furniture. Our product developer Ulf Engström explains what STRANDMON has to put up with. “It’s tested to make sure it can take a person that sits and gets up at least 50,000 times. That’s the same as sitting and getting up once a day for 136 years.”
Now in bits and pieces
The aim was to create a comfortable and high quality chair that was a real bargain. For example, Ulf and his colleagues decided to put it in a flat pack. “It has made it possible to have a lower price and reduce emissions during transportation, explains Ulf. The flat pack will also make bringing home STRANDMON a whole lot easier, especially for everyone who doesn’t have a car that can fit a pre-assembled wing chair.
Some things never change
The wing chair perhaps had its golden era long ago, but who knows, it might be considered a must-have in people's homes once again. “People have changed the way they live since the 50's, but the need for affordable quality furniture is still the same. I think that is one of the reasons to why STRANDMON is so popular,” says Ulf. The flat pack and the lower price, together with new colors and patterns, will definitely make it easier for more people to find the right spot for STRANDMON in their home. And – of course – experience some well-deserved comfort.
