SÖDERHAMN seating series allows you to sit deeply, low and softly with the loose back cushions for extra support.
The cover is easy to keep clean since it can be machine washed and is easy to take off and put on again.
The various sections of the seating series can be connected together in different combinations or used separately.
This cover is made of Tonerud, a soft polyester fabric with a felt look and a two-toned melange effect.
You can sit in comfort with a slight, pleasant resilience thanks to the elastic weave in the bottom and high resilience foam in the seat cushions.

The cover has a lightfastness level of 5 (the ability to resist color fading) on a scale of 1 to 8. According to industry standards, a lightfastness level of 4 or higher is suitable for home use.This cover’s ability to resist abrasion has been tested to handle 50,000 cycles. 15,000 cycles or more is suitable for furniture used every day at home. Over 30,000 cycles means a good ability to resist abrasion.This seating furniture is tested and complies with relevant strength and durability standards. The tests simulate typical usage of the product and are based on use by persons weighing up to 242 lbs.

Poor Quality, Wrong Color, and Bad FitParisaI’ve been an IKEA customer for years, which makes this even more disappointing.
I bought this sofa 5 years ago in dark gray and was very happy. This year I ordered the L-shape, but it’s completely different from the photos. The fabric is much lighter and the material feels cheaper.
After assembly, the sections don’t align—the two-seater sits forward while the chaise sits back, with no way to adjust. The cushions also look deformed and didn’t improve over time.
The return process is slow and inconvenient. Pickup takes time, refunds take weeks, and replacing the item is difficult. Customer service was not helpful and only repeated generic info.
Very disappointing decline in quality and service.
Not worth the priceAlexaUnfortunately this couch is worth way less than it should be. The chaise is really short- the fabric is scratchy and smells like paint. The two cushions lefts a dent in the middle when you lay. The gruel quality of this couch is about $700
Older version was more comfortable!DanielleWe loved our first Soderhamn so much (purchased in 2015) and even passed it on to a family member when we made a long-distance move. We decided to purchase this couch again last year because of how comfortable and beautiful the first one was. We were really sad to find out that the newer version is much less comfortable (the seat cushions are too stiff and the pillows seem like they are a different density than before). The bottom of the couch also used to have a cross support piece that is absent on the new version which allows the new version to sag more. Despite all this disappointment we are keeping the couch since the back pillows are adjustable which is nice when changing seating positions and we plan on adding 3" upholstery foam to the seats to improve seated comfort. The new cushion cover in Gransel natural is also my dream cover--im glad I waited for Ikea to finally release a cover in a warm color again instead of buying a similar style cover for much more from 3rd party.
