Good for what it isEliotBought 2 of these, they’re fairly simple to assemble but it did require more physical force than I expected. You’ll need a hammer and there are some large screw/bolts that take some finessing. On both dressers those bolts cracked the wood supports, and I was sure I’d have to return the item, but I was able to put the rest of it together around the busted bits and it works fine. It’s a simple dresser, I didn’t expect the world, and neither should you3
Good option for low usage chestRoseBought 2 more. I've had 4 other of these over the years, and left them when I sold the house or donated. Pretty much what I expected them to be, with some downgrades from the past. I used a power tool to assemble, and would never have managed assembly just using the tool they provide and manual screwdrivers. Some of the holes needed adjusting with drill bits. I also highly recommend using a dab/bead of all purpose glue or wood glue on all of the screws and joints for increased stability and the best longevity. In the end I would never want to use these chests for daily use. The drawers aren't smooth and there are minimal connectors are holding the units together. But they are inexpensive and suit me for additional storage of things I don't need on a daily basis, but don't want to pack away in a storage bin like swimsuits; hosiery; some jewelry etc. etc.4
Perfect toddler drawersVictoriaI got two of these & they arrived just days apart. The first one I got I had probably a bit too much coffee, I was a bit jittery. During the assembly of the first drawers I accidentally over tightened one of the screws that hold the drawer slides, a bit of lock tight fixed that problem right up. Then at the end when they have you hammer in the nails they give you this little device that holds the nails so you don’t smash fingers I figured I’d give it a shot. I tried it once and the nail kept going wonky and came out the side bit of the drawers so I decided to abandon that and just do it the way I was taught. I probably was a bit better then the device I only made a few others wonky with my shaking hands. When the next drawers arrived I learned from my mistakes and the drawers came out much better. All in all the first one took me about 2 1/2hrs to build and the second one took me about an 1 1/2hrs because the littles decided they wanted to help. They love their drawers are their size.5
Misaligned drill holesPrakritThe drill holes are not aligned properly. As I was setting up the bottom bar, the screw went in at an angle and ended up with a crack with the screw exposed from the broken bar. The stability of this dresser is now compromised. So, I'm quite sad that I cannot use a newly bought dresser.2
Good for the priceManonStill work well after few months. Very useful for small space. Like also the fact that we could easily change its colour.5
Sturdy and easy to assembleCriszalinBought it a year ago for my daughter’s clothes. It was easy to assemble and did it on my own. Now I’m back to buy another one! No issues with sturdiness, literally looks as if we didn’t use. We plan to make them both into a desk by placing a wood board on top. Saw the inspiration online. 5
solid woodSeanDo not buy this unless you want to find an alternate method to put it together. None of the "predrilled" holes are properly aligned with many not even being pre drilled. The screws to hold the shelf guides are flat tipped making screwing into the wood a challenge. The allen screws to hold the unit together strip easy while also not pulling the unit together becuase as mentioned before the holes are not all aligned.
It will make a nice enough dresser, once you get your own hardware and assemble it since it is made out of hard wood but beyond this I cannot recommend anyone at all buying this.1
Broke in only a few monthsSamanthaThis dresser broke so quickly. We only used it for underwear and socks mostly and it still broke. It was ok until then though.2
Waste of MoneySheikhThis is flimsy and will fall apart1
Custom closet projectMagdaI love these! I was able to customize the paint color and added personalized nibs for a more decorative look. I was able to put them together following the instructions.5
Not durableGargiThis was extremely difficult to assemble compared to other ilea furniture I’ve put together. The dresser broke within 2 months and the drawers can’t hold any weight. Its flimsy and not well made.1
RAST DresserSamannthaGot this dresser for my new and or FIRST apartment, while building it within the first steps of setting up I can’t even screw the screws into the wood, I have built ikea furniture before and have NEVER had this issue when building something and or especially something made from wood. If anyone has some tips or tricks please help! Or is it even worth continuing to build and I should just return it. 1
Pieces broke, drawers never workedVeronicaHad this for about a year, wanted a small dresser for my closet. On assembly pieces broke off and snapped, the wood was coming apart as I tried to put screws in. After it’s assembled you realize the divets for the tracks in the drawers aren’t deep enough in the wood so 2/3 drawers never worked, never slid in and out properly. They’d fall out sideways and would get stuck. TERRIBLE dresser!1
Broke During AssemblySophiaLike many others here, the screws splintered the wood midway through assembly. I’ve built several houses worth of IKEA furniture so this was not user error.1
Simple. Functional.JerryI genuinely hope Ikea never discontinues this type of furniture. What it lacks in colors, design, flash, and finish; it makes up for in FUNCTION, CRAFTSMANSHIP, and SIMPLICITY. The pieces are cut very precisely so that they come together seamlessly. The wood is finely sanded so as to prevent splinters. The hardware all is chosen to give the most functionality out of such a simple drawer! The only "problem" people may have with it is if they spill something on it the wood will stain, unless they decide to paint it!5
Terrible qualityDanielleDrawers don't glide smooth. Never over filled and still broke from just opening and closing often.1
Solid pieceLeandraI need everyone to understand that if you’re looking for a large dresser than this is not the right thing for you. But what it is, is a great solid wood piece that provides extra storage that makes a perfect night stand.5
Broke so fast, bad quality StellaOne month of use already broke the cabinet.1
a classicEjsturdy, easy to build, with unique dimensions hard to find elsewhere. i often need this shallow dimension for in-closet dressers. I've specced the Rast in a number of rooms i've designed. And the price is always right! Yes, it's raw pine -- so if you're using it as a bedside table you should stain / paint it. I like to think of a Rast as an ingredient in my room recipes -- it can be any color I want it to! Like an Ivar, etc, the Rast is here to serve your vision. The two in my own closet are not stained, still raw pine after years, as im not setting any wet glasses on them. The shallow drawers are perfect for opening within the closet footprint. I use them to store underwear, bras, socks, exercise clothes, pajamas, little tee shirts, etc. I also just specced one as a bedside table in a friend's guestroom (in which case we painted it yellow). Long live the Rast and its unique dimensions.5
Easy to build but quality is poor.BonnieI bought this because it was solid wood instead of particle board and the price was pretty decent. Unfortunately, several pieces cracked and split when I was screwing everything in. They've also cheaped out and use plastic railing instead of metal. Difficult to pull the drawers out. If I had a choice, I'd spend the money on the Hemnes line instead of this.3
