Product details

The high backrest and the curved shape of the chair, provide good lower back support and prevent your back from getting tired. You sit comfortably, longer and with a relaxed posture.

The deepening in the chair seat distributes the weight over the area of the chair and reduces the pressure on the sitting bone.

Solid wood chair frame makes the construction durable and very sturdy.

Combine with NORDVIKEN tables for a coordinated look.

May be completed with FIXA self-adhesive floor protectors to protect the underlying surface against wear.

Nice ChairRoss B.This is a very nice well made chair.5
Good looking though cheap materialKartik Y.The chairs look good but very light wood so it feels not as strong and cheap.2
Wobble so much!MARY T.I would not buy again.1
Good looking chairs that fit all of usTesa C.We are happy with our chairs. They are sturdy and fit all the different sized folks in our family. It was a priority for us to find a comfortable chair for the biggest to the smallest members of the family. Putting the chairs together was a bit difficult when lining up the wood screws with the seat board. Got it done though and ready to complete the set.5
Dining chairsRebeccaBasic dining chairs. They r fine.4
LOVE IKEA!!! Love the simpleNadineLOVE IKEA!!! Love the simple efficient designs! Also reasonable pricing!!! I have been a dedicated fan since the beginning here in California. ❤️5
Nordviken chair is pretty sturdyLORIWe bought 2 chairs for our small dinning table and we are pleased with the sturdiness and ergonomics. We did buy dark gray pads to sit on from ikea too.5
Needs improvementChristineThe wood seat splinters as soon as the screw starts turning. Would have loved these but returned for something else.1
Purchased 4 chairs one ofFrancisPurchased 4 chairs one of which was poorly finished. Splinters on back ladder snagged clothing. Paint spray finish very thin.4

Great chair but…LauraIt’s not very sturdy. Trying to attach the seat to the chair was hard because no hole were in there and the wood is very thin.3
SEATS WONT ATTACH- SHIT PRODCUTLauren R.Ive seen about 6 of the same other reviews. never had had an issue with an ikea product in the past but these chairs are AWFUL. The chair wont attach to the seat (the wood splits at the screw...creating a massive hole). seat props up like a toilet seat. SHIT PRODUCT I WANT MY MONEY BACK. DO NOT BUY THIS YOU WILL BE DISSAPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Kitchen chairBarbaraSturdy. Sits nice with the cushions.5
Basic chairsAminataThey are pretty basic chairs and stemlike they won’t hold for a long time. Easy to put together but I had to put cushions on it3
BewareFaith R.It was a breeze putting this together up until we got to the point of attaching the seat to the rest of the chair… we physically could not get the screws to actually screw into the wood and then the wood kept chipping! We will try using some super glue or wood glue instead.. hoping it will help.2
Seat is impossible to attachJohn E.Like money others i have had a terrible time with the last step, attaching the seat to the rest of chair frame. I believe This needs to be modified, enough people have struggled with this. Very nice looking though2
Pain to AssembleJessica A.Big fan of Ikea for the past 30+ yrs. Never have I struggled as much as I did with the Nordviken. 1. When it came to attaching the seat to the frame, the screw would not go in easily. In many cases, the small pilot hole for the screws were not lined up with the plastic piece the screw needed to go through. Other times, the screws would not "bite" and kept turning in place without tightening (my husband had to put his whole body weight into it to finally get it down). More often than not, the wood in the seat splintered pretty badly. And it was very hard to get the screws tight enough to have the seat completely flush with the frame (leaving a gap between the frame and seat). We ultimately made it work by matching up different seats with frames to find the best fit and my husband using ALL his strength to get the screws in, but we seriously considered returning the 8 chairs we bought. 2. Black paint doesn't cover all the way to end of some of the back pieces. Very poor manufacturing!3

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet attached to things like particleboard to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak, and beech, and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.
