Product details

Storage in the headboard saves space and makes it easier to access boxes or drawers under the bed; and it’s easier to vacuum too.

The soft felt pad absorbs sound, protects from scratches and keeps small items in place.

You can choose where to position the boxes and shelves since they easily slot into the headboard’s grooves.

You can hide cables for lamps and chargers by feeding them through the holes at the back of the shelf.

You decide the height of the headboard since it needs to be mounted to the wall.

NORDLI headboard is assembled and mounted on the wall in just a few steps.

Easy to bring home since the headboard is divided into two pieces.

Great functional headboard!KIMI've been looking for a freestanding headboard for quite a while. I saw this item in the Ikea catalog initially then found it in the store. I am very pleased with my purchase!5
Hurricane Ian took our first one-coming back for a secondKristi J.This headboard was exactly the look we wanted for our room. We don't have a ton of space, so the thin profile and hanging it on the wall was a lifesaver. Hurricane Ian floodwaters got high enough to affect the wood-and believe me when I say nothing that was in that water was reusable! I marked the holes where the bracket was installed so the drywallers don't fill them and we're really looking forward to getting a new one back in place when we're ready to move back. So glad it's still available. Good Job Ikea.5

Love it!!F S.I bought this for my teen girl in white, along with the storage bed. We absolutely love it. The space that we save alone is worth the cost of the bed and board. I hired TaskRabbit to install. He did it in two hours, minus the drawers, which I did myself. There are plenty of videos to help with the drawers, but not many helpful ones for the bed/headboard.5
I love thisKimThis set is made so smartly. I got the whole set including dresser and chest. The drawers are deep and sleek. I’m a minimalist and enjoy this set.5
Excellent for a small spaceTRACYEasy to install and perfect for our small space. It looks sleek and provides two floating shelves in each side of the bed5

Evaluate your space before you buy...John O.If I had my purchase to complete again, I would have chosen a different bed/headboard combination. Shame on me for not researching the nuances of this design before I made my choice. The headboard is as it appears in the pictures, and I believe the side shelves will be very functional and helpful. The three biggest downfalls of this design are (a) the headboard is physically mounted to the wall, (b) the mounting hardware is very inflexible, and (c) the headboard is HUGE and may cover electrical receptacles in order to place the bed where it most likely should be. Given the 4 day process to build this piece by myself (including 2 runs to the hardware store); I will NEVER move it again. I had to drill out all the mounting hardware to get them to fit across even 2 wall studs 16" apart (including the recess holes that were not large enough for necessary tools). The bed and headboard are nice, once built.2
Great DesignSINAN S.With this price level, this product is a no brainer in terms of quality and design. Me and my wife loved it at first sight, finding it in stocks together with the actual bed is a mission though. I made several visits to different IKEA stores, the parts seen 'in stock' may not be really available on the shelves.5
It was easy to installJesusIt was easy to install and looks great. Makes no noise compared to the ones with legs which move around too much.5
The only issue is theyInaraThe only issue is they put the measurements for the headboard but didn’t mention the size if it’s queen or king. So I ended up buying king size for queen bed (((. Return is a headache as I have the small car. At the end it works good even in a bigger size. So no complaints. Very comfortable, no need the nightstands with this headboard.5
Really makes a statement.TiaI love the look of this piece. It was the perfect compliment to my existing bedroom furniture. The shelves are so convenient and versatile.5

Nordli- Need to buy mounting screws!Diego J.Very disappointed that no one mentioned I needed to buy the mounting screws separate! I get that they are not included because of different types of wall material but the sales people should know to mention it. I’m at the end of assembly late at night and need to find drywall anchors.1

HeadboardRon G.The headboard was great and easy to assemble. The only challege was measuring where to place on wall.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.

Designer thoughts

Designer thoughts

"When I designed the NORDLI bedroom series I was inspired by modern Scandinavian design and smart functions. It all started with just a bed and bedside table, then grew into a complete series. Each piece works great alone or combined with others. They all have their own special features with focus on functionality and quality. The modular chests come in different shapes and sizes that you can combine freely to suit your space. Some pieces are also great in other rooms too, like the living room, hall – even in a small business."
