Not as sturdy as 5x5JoeBecause of the design, when the 2 x 4 unit is oriented horizontally, the support for the individual shelves are not as strong as they are oriented the wrong way. And they have to be oriented this way in order to sit on the metal base.

Good but a little disappointedMichelleOverall, the unit looks nice, it's functional. However, I was disappointed that it is hallow and light weight. I have purchased good quality units from IKEA in the past, I feel like this product is sub-par and won't last long. It does function its purpose, I was able to hide the area that had a hole broken into it, so I am ok with the unit, but will not purchase another.

Unsafe. TeresaI am appalled by how unsafe this is. The shelves only balance on the leg base: you can’t connect the leg base to the shelves. It’s a wobbly, cheap, and unsafe design.
Kallax Cubbie ShelvesDianeI already have one in my bedroom (for all those little personal things) and I bought 2 colors of plastic trays/boxes to bring out the colors in my bedspread. So it was a cinch for the living room, and the perfect height for my TV! And ditto for the plastic trays/boxes, these are in blue to match my couch. WIN-WIN!
