Product Has ChangedRachelThe wooden pegs are no more. So not only is this product more flimsy, it is also more difficult to put together. I have purchased so many Expedit and Kallax products and never had an issue with the structural integrity or quality. Why change a good thing???

Complete downturn in quality-- no longer wood pegsMarcusThe quality has taken a massive downturn as plastic and light screws have replaced the wooden pegs! This means wood glue can no longer be applied to bare surfaces for added strength. The application i was going to use these for is no longer possible with how structurally weak this new version is. So disappointed. I will have to source used copies of the previous version. :(

Very adaptable and usefullRobertThese Kallax units are amazingly versatile and adaptable. Ikea sells many options to go with the Kallax, like dividers, drawers and baskets. Convinient mounting holes are already in place so there's no extra drilling needed. They are fairly lightweight, easy to assemble and sturdy
Better than I possibly could have dreamed!!!MarkThe Kallax shelf and drawer unit that we now have installed in our home is exactly what we both wanted and needed. I had looked into having a cabinet maker produce much the samed thing and found that the price would be in execess of $10,000 and possibly take months to deliver and ionstall. For less than a 7.5% of that-- and several long evening, we assembled exactly what we wanted and needed and would recommend that others do just the same. Our great thanks!!!

Nice, but…very lightSarahSo I bought one of these 14 years ago for my daughters nursery, the 2 high 2 wide one in beige. This time I got white and 4 high. The good is it goes with everything, very nice and basic. Great price too. The bad but maybe good for those who want to hang it on the wall, it is very light. The particle board from 14 years ago has definitely changed, not as dense. I also noticed that in the Alex desk we just bought. But that’s is the only bad. The bottom and base on new one is also not as thick as older one but I don’t consider that significant just an observation. Super easy to assemble, looks great and perfect for my daughters room make over. She is very happy. I love our older one and it is still in perfect condition even after a cross the country move. Not a scratch or ding on it. Would definitely recommend.
HORRIBLE QUALITYGiorgioNormally, over time, production processes and quality should only improve, but not for IKEA!!!
I have known and had the Kallax series for at least 10 years, before the quality was more than sufficient, excellent weight, excellent finishing, now the products have been totally lightened, metal parts replaced by plastic, horrible gluing. Unfortunately there are not many alternatives to Ikea around...

Different assembly - visible plastic screws!SamanthaWhat’s not shown in any of the photos are the plastic screws that are meant to cover the screw holes, on every single shelf. I’ve had several Kallax over the years in different colors and dimensions and this is the first time one has had these. Is is just the white ones? It’s ok if it’s placed vertically since they only show on the bottoms, but if you turn it horizontal these will be unsightly.
It's the lego of IKEAVictoriaIt's lighter than I expected, because it's very cleverly engineered. We are using our Kallax in an unconventional way, as a base for our guinea pig habitat, and it looks sleek and is sturdy.
