Great for small to medium weight catsNancyBuilt a 4x4 Kallax system, including two cat houses. We have two Maine Coons, both female. Maisie is 20 pounds, Lilou is 10 pounds (full grown; the runt of the litter). Maisie can't even get into the cat house, which is a bummer. Lilou can and does. Loves hanging out in the cat house. Just be mindful if purchasing that your big cats won't fit.
My Cat is aboutJavierA Heckin' Chonker according to the International Cat Chonk Scale online. I Put a soft pad blanket on the bottom of it so he can be comfortable and he Loves it . Heckin' Chonker Cat Size approved. However i will say if your cat is a Hefty Chonk or greater , they might not fit.

Not for larger catsAmeliaI really wanted to love this, but it just didn’t work out. My cat, who’s a bit on the heavier side, couldn’t fit comfortably through the opening and even bumped his back on the part between the ears, which was sad to see. Some of the other cats in the home are able to use it, but I think I'll have to get a saw out and make the space bigger. Overall, it’s disappointing, so I’d give it about 3 stars.

Cat approvedNicoleWhether or not my cat used this, I decided to buy it because it’s very cute and adds a little something to the simple design of kallax and the other inserts I’ve purchased. But, my cat does actually use it along with the ikea pillow insert. He seems to enjoy it; I find him in there a couple times a week and he always looks so cozy curled up on the pillow! Very glad I bought it!

Cute but my cats don't use it as much as meAnqiIt's pretty sturdy and I use it as a stool sometimes, but my cats don't like going inside it, maybe it was a little too small for them. It was a little expensive for the price so I probably wouldn't buy another one.

High Expectations FernandoI loved it from the moment I saw it online. I ran to IKEA the next day to buy it. I put it together as soon as I got home and added to my KALLAX unit.
Before I share my experience I want to give my opinion. I think it's a great idea, it looks great as one of the niches. But...
Since my KALLAX sits on the base legs, it makes the cat house entrance just high enough to be too uncomfortable for both my lazy apartment cats. They've been inside only a couple of times, but I noticed that entering is the issue, because the hole is almost too small. So the combination of having to go through a tight hole and the need for a small jump at the same time, makes it a unappealing for them. I wish the hole was bigger, even if it meant being round instead of cat shaped.
Maybe if I put it on the floor they would enjoy it more.

The Cat Head ShapeAnonymous reviewerThe Cat Head Shape on the front of the box needs to definitely be larger. My cat knows it’s his, But it’s a struggle for him to go in because it’s on the smaller side. IKEA needs to make the shape larger for all cats to go inside. And also have a pillow or blanket. This review would of been a 5 ⭐️.
