Just what I neededLindaI purchased this unit for my art studio, and it has been perfect. It is tall and the shelves are deep, so it holds a lot. It is also nicely constructed. I look forward to getting years of use from it.

MisalignedDimitraThese are good quality bookcases, but the center piece with the cabinet doors was misaligned. Thing is, the closest IKEA is 3 hours away, so I’m not going to drive 6 hours to make a return. Disappointed in the craftsmanship this time.

DisappointmentsLeeBought 3 because Billy were constantly out of stock. A Idana bookcase is about twice the price as a Billy. I bought these in March and started unpacking/assembly in July. First disappointment is that Idana bookcases have only four inside shelves. . Billy has five. I am using these for books, so shelf acreage means a lot. You can't add a shelf and have 11 inches between because the casing (sides) are too short.
The second disappointment was the top, bottom and middle shelf attachment method. These shelves have built-in plastic pegs which fit into holes in the casing that after you give it a push, the pegs slide to a narrower spot where they won't fall out. But if things are misaligned or you don't have both pegs in, the holes in the casing takes a beating and start chipping off. The entry hole for the peg gets chewed out as does the narrow part. It will not hold the shelves to the casings once the holes are damaged. I am going to screw and glue the thing together. All three.

Very nice, well built shelving unit.DavidWonderful heavy duty book shelve unit. I am very pleased with the quality and ease of assembly. As I do with all of Ikea products that are wood, I add wood glue to each joint or pin that are used. This I have found makes the unit very sturdy and holds up to being moved etc.

Nice shelvingDougVery easy to assemble but had a slight problem getting the back and top on. Bought 4 to create a library. May have to get one more.
Hole in the productAleshiaThese were extremely heavy boxes so we just took the ones off the top of the stack. One box had a hole in it but it looked like it had just damaged the box and styrofoam packaging. We took the shelves home (bought two sets) and after putting them together, realized the back panel of one had a baseball sized hole directly in the center of one shelf, not easily hidden. We had already spent a long period of time putting these together and we live an hour from IKEA so decided to keep it.
Worked outSteveMy wife and I went to the store to purchase a different bookcase, but they were sold out by the time we got there. However, they had these in stock and I couldn’t be happier with the ease of installation, sturdiness, and the look. If we need more bookcases in the future, this will be on top of the list.
