Wish the tension spring was betterKirkWithin the first month this curtain rod fell down 4 times! Each time I put it back up I tried to tighten the rod's tension to prevent it from falling. Eventually I got the tension right and it:s not fallen in 7 months. 🤞🏻
Shower curtain tension rodTerri LHornen shower rod looks to be a quality thing . The silver doesn’t seem to be painted on but more leaning to the actual metal . I’m not positive- it really looks good . I have not had issues with how it functions and can still hang my no drip dry stuff there . A very good affordable bathroom mini makeover lol !
Doesn’t stay up from the startJaneBought this yesterday to replace the Botaren shower rod that kept falling. The Hornen is worse! Followed the installation instructions to the letter. As soon as I put the rubber end cap on and try to push it into place, there’s a clicking noise and the rod just collapses into itself. Tried three times and that confirmed this is a piece of junk that needs to be returned.
Will not stay up for more than a few daysJohnI've tried every manner of getting this rod to sit tight in the shower, but every time after a few days I come back to find the curtain on the floor and both ends of the rod flung into the corners of the room.
Keeps falling downMelNot worth buying because it keeps falling down. All i have on it is a shower curtain, and even just one plastic shower curtain is too heavy for it. I recommend finding something stronger
Works well, looks fineRalphSuccessfully installing the rod requires following ALL of the instruction steps. ____ I use isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) to clean the walls where the rubber feet will go. The rod contains a twist lock and a strong spring. The twist lock is tightened while a foot is set aside; next, the missing foot is added and the (now longer) rod is compressed and positioned. Compressing the rod may require using both hands and putting your back against the wall, but don't use excessive force against drywall. ____ I use Hornen rods to hold the equivalent of 5 wet shirts above a tub and above a shower, and to help hold a wet shower curtain away from the inside of a tub. I use a Botaren rod vertically between my kitchen counter and ceiling, to hold 3 clamp lights and a small clamp fan. I use another Botaren over a sink, between kitchen cabinets, to hold a light-blocking curtain that I clip over the rod when needed. ____ I hope that IKEA will resume selling the shorter Hornens and Botarens.
Spring mechanism is absent, DO NOT buyYulianaWill not lock because it does not appear to have any spring mechanism inside. It's lightweight but cannot maintain even its own weight before falling, never mind a shower curtain.

Ikea products have really went downhill. I so mad I have to fix my brand new tub due to this shoddy product. It seems a lot of people have the same issue.

Great tension RodPamelaIt works great. Follow the instructions on how to extend and tighten. I bought wall fittings that cup the ends and screw into the wall so it stays in one place. Tension rods will tear off the paint if they are tight enough, and I don’t want it to shift.

what a piece.NeilThis product is twist to lock, not twist to snug. Meaning, to get a snug fit you have to install it at a slight angle and then level it off. The problem with that is, not a lot of walls are perfectly flat!! Also the lock isn't very tight, or maybe it's just hard to make it lock with wet hands. This lost grip and fell twice while showering. not cool or fun or good.

READ THIS REVIEW!PeterI have read all the bad reviews of this rod before buying and then went out to IKEA and bought it anyway. I have the old stainless steel IKEA shower rod and that one is great. This one is even better. I use it to hang wet laundry on, and it will not move or fall. People who had problems with this rod falling didn't understand installation instructions. When you turn to lock this rod it just locks, it doesn't expand like traditional shower rods do. Adjust the width of the rod and lock it with one of the rubber bushings removed. Then install the bushing and compress the rod to fit between the walls. Have someone help you if you find it difficult to compress the rod by yourself. Cleaning your tile before installation is also not a bad idea, the surface should be free of grease/soap residue. Again, I use IKEA hangers to hang my wet clothes on this one and have had no problems. Great item that definitely doesn't deserve the bad reviews.
