It needs to be fasten to the wallMCstarI wish that the shoe cabinet could be free standing to use. After assembled, I found out that it needs to be secured to the wall. Since, I'm renting, I'm trying to make less holes on the wall if possible.3
Great shoe holderGreggDawg64my wife purchased this for her MANY shoes and it works fine.5
Hide my shoes!MWasiI particularly like that the HEMNES Shoe cabinet is slim and leaves walking space in our entry way. This was a nice surprise find on my last IKEA visit.5
Finished installing last night, a couple issuesDuqwichBought it over the weekend and spent a couple lazy days putting it together. Yes, I could have done it much faster, but my helper wanted to play a ton since pop was on the floor. The overall shell build is nice. A bit taller than it needs to be. The interior doors are OK. I wish they were made of wood or metal and I'm worried the pins that hold the shoe compartments in would be a little more robust. I have a fear they'll wear out fairly quick. Like others, I wish this was a freestanding unit with four legs, necessitating mounting it to the wall was not that convenient. Less convenient was the fact that no wall-mounting hardware was included. Thankfully I have tool boxes full of machine screws and wall anchors. Others may not be as fortunate. Unfortunately when everything was assembled, I found the last part of the install, the sliding drawer, I was missing one of the mount screw holders. Instead was a metal slug about the same weight as the others. I guess this thing passed inspection since it was the proper weight. Fortunately it was only one, and the drawer won't see a ton of weight in it so I'm not worried about it. The assembly of the rest of the drawer was a bit of a pain. The screws holding the roller brackets in actually kept colliding with the roller wheels on the shell itself, so the drawer would make a thwack halfway, and then just grind against the half millimeter or so of exposed screw head to get past it. It was such a problem, I ended up removing one of the screws and replacing with just glue so the wheels wouldn't constantly encounter this issue. To resolve it, Ikea would need to make the bracket screw holes a little more recessed for the screw head to fit more flush, or have looser tolerances for the wheels to prevent collision. Other than that, it's a nice looking unit. Very sturdy so far, and makes keeping my dirty shoes out of the rest of the house much more convenient. Now I just need to find a new key rack to replace the one I had before to complement this.....4
good cabinetziamriEasy to assemble. Good quality wood and hardware. compact design so it fits even if you have it installed in the hallway.5
Great for uses other than shoes!fRitaAI bought this to go in our kitchen to hold plastic wrap, aluminum foil, ziplock bags etc. in the top bin and in the bottom bin cookie sheets and cutting boards.... the top drawer met my husband’s request to put his “stuff”. We have been using it like this for three months and are so happy with it!!!5
ExcellentMarty1215We are very happy with this,ez puttpgether.5
Awesome Storage!!!happy_ikea_shopperWe bought the cabinet a few weeks ago and couldn’t be happier about the purchase. Cabinets holds wells to wall even with the constant opening and closing of the drawers for shoes. We are a family of 4 and everyone has at least 5 pairs of shoes in the cabinet. The top drawer is an absolute bonus for keeping small items stored away and leave a clean and organized appearance on the top of cabinet. Fits great in a narrower hallway or perfect for the entryway to keep area organized and tidy. Would buy this shoe cabinet again.5
Solid constructionMCBowmanThis unit replaced another Ikea shoe storage unit that just could not keep up with the wear and tear of a family of 4. This unit is much better built, and I expect it to last much, much longer.5
Looks great in the foyerMelanie DawnI bought this for its intended use, to corral shoes near the front door. It's working and it looks great. My tall BF is happy he doesn't have to bend over to get to his shoes.5
Design meets organizationSBSmithSlim and thoughtful design makes these shoe cabinets my new favorite addition to our closet. I’m able to fit 8 shoes per drawer. Wish I would’ve installed these sooner!5
Great solution for shoes!Penelopy777Easy to resemble. Great looking finished piece. Best of all... no piles of shoes on the floor to trip over!5
Your Storage FriendSwedish HamAs designed, we bought this to store shoes. This may have been the most complex IKEA pice we’ve ever put together. It just has a lot of pieces so be sure to start this in a good mood and with at least an hour to complete. Overall the construction is sturdy, except the top drawer feels too weak and wobbly whenever I use it. What’s most important to know about this product is that you MUST secure it to the wall because that is how it is designed. It has two front feet/legs but no back legs. Propping it up won’t do either because it takes some force to open the shoe doors.5
Well engineeredSammy pWe looked at pretty much everything out there in this category and found this to be the perfect item for us. We bought 2 of them and reorganized our hallway where we keep our shoes and accessories. It now looks uncluttered, and organized. It helps to know your way around tools and assembly processes when putting them together.5
Marriage SaverBBinCaliBought a month ago and it has saved my marriage. My husband likes all the shoes put away and this makes it easy. Also, my 3-year-old loves putting his shoes away too. Wasn’t difficult to put together either.4
Hide those shoes!YoadrianeI bought this item to clear the clutter out of my doorway. It looks great and hides those shoes. My only suggestion is to add the screws needed to secure this item to the wall.5
Missing partHawkinsWe still have not assembled it yet. Waiting for the missing part to arrive.3
Looks good but top drawer is flimsyCaseyMThis was one of the easier IKEA pieces I’ve put together. It looks great and the shoe drawers are sturdy and stay out when opened which is nice. My only real critique is the upper drawer. The right side seems to catch whenever I close it and it just feels flimsy. I’ve tried to tighten the hardware but its no use. I just have to make sure I kind of angle the drawer when I close it so it doesn’t catch. Other than the annoying drawer I’m very happy with the piece.4
Holds lots of shoes!hellokitti69i purchased two weeks ago. Husband assembled.....Fit a good portion of my shoes....i really want another!5
Fabulous!Bocachula123So happy I bought this ! I no longer trip on shoes at the door.5
