Perfect to keep next to you on the kitchen worktop with the lid fixed over the edge when you’re cooking or cleaning up. And when you're done, just put the lid on to avoid unpleasant odors.
You do not need a bag on the inside since the bin is easy to wipe clean or wash by hand.
The folding handle makes it easy to carry and empty the bin.

Surprisingly goodKaraI was skeptical since this is just a plastic bin with a lid-but it is the perfect size for compost and the top stays on well. It is also very easy to clean.

Attractive and practical countertop compost pailMarcusI liked this as soon as I saw it. The shape and colour are great. It holds a good amount which has reduced our trips to the larger compost pail we have outside. The handle is handy :). I dinged it one star because the lid only goes on in one orientation, which adds a little cognitive load. The plastic is also quite thin but seems adequate to the task.

Excellent!AlisonI prefer this compost bin over one I had with a flip top. It's harder to dump out with that style without getting food scraps all over!. This is a great size, nice neutral color, and easy to fit the smaller compostable bags in it so I can just take those and put them in our towns compost bins.

Great to carry iceJudyI needed something to carry ice for my husbands ice machine for his knee that was just replaced. Perfect! Fits the amount of ice it uses and with the handle it is easy to transport up stairs and then just dump in his ice machine. The lid is perfect so nothing slides out while going upstairs.

Compost BinKathyThe size and construction are great. I live in NYC and have to bring my compostables to a receptacle outside the building. Because I need to transport my compost, I wish to do so in a biodegradable plastic bag. When I put the bag in the Compost Bin, it does not stand up. I've put a large yogurt container inside the bin to keep the bag upright... but the yogurt container is significantly smaller than the bin. I wish there was some sort of inner lining I could use to hold up the bag. The Compost Bin looks good on the counter... its color is very similar to the color of my kitchen, which is nice. However, it would be nice to offer this product in other colors for customers whose kitchens are colors which may clash with the green.

This isn't a compost bin. It's a bin. SaskiaThe description is deceptive. This isn't a compost bin. It's a bin to be used to transport items to compost area. It's not intended to leave food scraps in long term. I wish I knew this before I bought it. Ikea accepts returns, but I live 2 hours away by car so I can't easily return this so I wasted my money.

The perfect size for kitchen countertopJenniferI was looking for a compost bin to hold all my kitchen scraps that looks nice but functional. This is it and the price was great! The only downside is the grooves in the lid that are supposed to line up with the handle part of the container. Since I use a compost bin liner when I put that on, it’s hard to line up the groove to the bin exactly. A minor thing but something to consider if there will be a next iteration of this product
