Very bad cheap untable productMarie-Nys K.This thing is some cheap design. I am in the process of building it and it is more stress that anything else. It wobbles all the time. The shelves would not stay in place. I want to retun it so so bad but i not into the mood of disassembling it. It was not a cheap too so ikea do better. I will be looking for hacks online to make it work.1
Difficult to assembleApartment RenterI had this unit for a year, and took it apart recently for a big move. I live in an apartment and the unit calls for attaching things to the wall, which doesn't work out so great for me as a renter. The unit was difficult to hold together, and wasn't all together sturdy by the time I finished assembly. It did the job, and the storage part of it was great. But I had to take care to pick it's final position very carefully, and not move it. Ever. Now that it is disassembled and some of the plastic parts are broken, I am debating whether it is even with the hassle of putting back together for such an unstable product.3
Massive DisappointmentSwedishFanI've been purchasing and assembling IKEA's wonderful furnishings for 30 years and can count on just a few fingers how many things have been a disappointment. Yesterday my 18 year old daughter and I set aside a whole day to construct IKEA's new SLAKT Twin Bed with 4 storage drawers (excellent!, by the way), the tall narrow HEMNES Bookcase (a family favorite), and this ELVARLI Shelf Unit with rod for hangers. When we finished, it seemed as though we had just completed an experimental prototype. ALL of the connecting pieces of the side ladder structures and even the shelf rivets were moveable and were impossible to secure. After installing a single shelf, we'd move on to another and the rivets on the first would loosen or drop to the floor. Our last step was to lightly and gingerly lift it into position in the room, that's when half of the shelf rivets popped out. Thank you IKEA for your very generous return policy that I've NEVER had to use until now. We just wanted to recommend that any customer think twice, OR better yet, three times before investing precious time, money, and brain power in this baffling open wardrobe shelf unit.1
Great idea, poor designCincyFishI bought this for my closet and I love the flexibility and it works perfect for the space. However the quality is not up IKEA standards. The shelves are merely held in by plastic rivets which can easily come out or actually break inside the shelf making them useless. The multiple side brackets that hold shelves or clothes hangers do not stay in place very well. It was also a hard build because the unit just would not stay together. Had I not broken rivets off in shelves and destroyed packaging, I would have returned this.2
Frustrated at shelfsZusi55I was really frustrated after trying to build this for what seemed like forever. As stated before, this is a two person job. This must be secured to the wall otherwise it just kind of wobbles. The shelfs click on easily but when I’m bumped into it the shelf would slide out. I can’t have that around my little one so it back to the drawing board for me2
Sturdy and well constructed; Easy to personalizektwintersWe bought two of these to use in our tiny bedroom for dressers/ bedside tables/ extra storage. It took a long time to build them because they are actually made out of good quality, sturdy metal. Definitely a 2-person, all-afternoon job. We've now had them for over 6 months and have found that the drawer inserts and hooks hold up very well to rigorous, every day use. Elvarli was initially not on our radar because it was outside of our budget; however, when we went to the store and saw how sturdy they were in person, we decided that the extra money spent was a good investment. So far, we have not been disappointed.5
So easy, works amazinglyKat12LI absolutely love my new closet I built using the Elvarli system. It's very easy to build and attach to the walls. I customized mine to my exact needs. I used a mixture of bamboo and white shelves to create the look I wanted. The shelves click into place easily and you can move them later if you change your mind. I have lots of clothes hanging on the bar and it's still very sturdy. I have a small walk-in closet but this system keeps everything looking open so it doesn't feel cramped.5
