Challenging assemblyMichelleI had to rely on a mallet to tap the pieces together. I'm not sure if the holes are misaligned but at one point the finish started cracking after tapping pieces together.
I think the sides should be marked more clearly; I got stuck on the last piece. Didn't realize I put the last piece in backwards - it's possible to pull out (had done it once before when I missed the panel) but the sides are stuck. It's technically useable but the now the panel isn't secure on all four sides.
The most difficult IKEA assemblySoonaI really hate the assembly! The compartments don’t fit into each other easily. Requires lots of trial and error and energy.
Poor fitPaulThis is a nice looking unit, but does not assemble as well as Ikea's usual Billy units. The pins do not fit the slots very well and I had to use brute force with a hammer to get the parts to line up. Fortunately nothing broke.
Nice Product KimberleyI used this product for a built in. It looks great now that it’s finished but was a hassle to build. Eket has a different assembly process than all the other IKEA products I’ve purchased over the years. I don’t feel as though the quality is as good.
Absolute garbageOleksiyNothing lines up, quality is garbage, boards are chipping and instructions are utter junk. Took a hammer to mine and tossed pile of trash into garbage. ZERO rating - will buy something else of quality.
Solid bookcase! Assembles in about 10 minutesRachaelThis is a solid little bookcase. I've got it loaded up with heavy cookbooks and it's holding them all with no issue. I ordered some better looking legs than what came with it.
I don't know what everyone's problem is with assembling it. Read. the. directions. Make sure you look at the photos. Compare your pieces to what is in the photo and lay them out the same way. Go step by step. It's not rocket science. If you have a rubber mallet it helps to seat the pieces together, but it's not required.
Very UnhappyPatriciaIt took 3 of us to put this together. It is not complete but using any way. The directions were not good at all!
Hard to assembleNicoleI like them, but I forgot to put the back on before I put the last side on it. Can’t get it apart now so the back is open. Kind of silly to have an open back when I purchased doors to keep my nosy dog out of them. He can just go around to the back now.
