Would purchase againTanjanekaI bought this from the as is section so bonus points for it already being put together. I use this to store my dog’s treats. I wish I had bought the other one in the as is section as well. Great little storage cubes5
It"s ok. Parts weren"t labeledAlexIt's ok. Parts weren't labeled clearly which caused some confusion during assembly.3

very difficult to assemblenancy1305I have assembled lots of furniture in the past and found these cubes very difficult--the dowels didn't fit the pre-drilled holes and when I pounded it together, I damaged the cubes. I assembled 3 cubes and each one was exactly the same.2
Not bad!jonasdThe Eket series looks amazing. Not sure why people complain abut the assembly. The snap-on feature is great and fairly easy to put together.5
Easy Assembly but Door Won"t LatchPhilly JasperEasy to assemble, our white Eket cube cabinet has been hung low on the wall to replace a small table that held our fruit. It looks awkward without any legs, but it should do the job of keeping onions, potatoes, & some fruit organized. The only problem: The cabinet door will not latch. It just stays open. So, we'll have to troubleshoot that by maybe getting a magnet or something... Disappointed in this poor functionality.2
Great productAl6222We have bought 6 of these and keep going back for more.5
not an easy fitJason23I bought 3 of these and ruined 2 in the process of building them. If these are so seamless and perfect, then maybe Ikea could quickly snap these together for folks when they buy them in store. Seams easy!1
Works just how I needed it to!kikid13Product works great - was not difficult to assemble. When putting some of the sides together it did require quite a bit of force but nothing too crazy. The product dimensions were not completely accurate. I measured the height of the space I wanted it to go in 3 times and checked against dimensions of this before purchasing and I should have had an extra 1/4 inch of space but instead the cabinet was a little taller than the height of the space I wanted it in. I was still able to use it, but that was a little frustrating.5
Good storage solutionMac128Easy to put together and hang on wall using the recommended hanging solution. Just make sure to tape all the templates together and make sure the spacing is correct.4
Plastic tabs to secure togetherStrykertlI’m extremely disappointed with this item. You have to use a hammer to put together and even then the plastic tabs that are supposed to slide and lack the sides together break off. Now I’ve either got to drive 50 miles to return this...thing or just eat the loss and throw it away.1
Good quality but assembly is VERY difficultSugarRaeWe bought 12 of these some with doors and some without. A very steep learning curve especially for those with doors. Unless you have the hand strength of King Kong, you need hammer and screw-driver! I'm 71 and don't! But with persistence and patience they came together well. Am not going to even think mounting them: Our son will do it.4
Looks great, but ...CegoThis small cabinet is sleek and modern. However, building it was a real challenge. It took two of us. We have assembled a lot of Ikea things before. One of the components — the one that makes the door push open — did not look like the one in the instructions. But the biggest issue was that the way the back was supposed to notch in, while adding the fourth side, was impossible — for us anyway. I think they were trying to have the side attatchments already built in, but this was not a good idea. We had to disassemble it, twice, and wound up leaving off the particle board back. This worked for us, but it is a work around.3
Easy assembly and sleek lookBrittney111We have 5 EKETS, 2 with doors, and we love the look and ease of assembly and hanging. It was tough to hang them corner to corner without gaps but once complete it really adds a nice look to the wall and practical5
Impossible to assemblemegandjThis is by far the worst piece I've ever gotten from IKEA. I have recently assembled the Besta series and the Sektion cabinets with no problems. With the Eket it relies on these rubber tabs that are supposed to slide to hook the sides of the box together. They are nearly impossible to slide and on my first box they broke off completely. If I use a hammer over a towel I can almost get it to work. I am now on my second box and for the life of me cannot get the 4th side on. Have been working on this for 30 minutes. Also the cabinet door does not center in the box and there is a big gap on one side. Very frustrated and disappointed.1
Convenient!AppleLadyI love this cubbie! It was so easy to put together and it's so simple and a convenient safe for me to keep my personal items away from my kids. I'm finding excuses to purchase more! I do wish it came in multiple colors.5
Great cabinetMandyjmcI hung this above my desk using the eket bracket. I put it together in about 10 minutes and hung it in 15. Paired it with a white open eket cabinet and it looks great!5
Functional and clean, nightmare assemblytkc0913The assembly for this is awful. Putting the side pieces together to snap in place is very difficult.2
Mark49Great except the auto door opening devise does not work4
ElynnI bought this about a month ago and love it. I needed to get rid of the night stand I had to make space for a treadmill that I purchased and I hung this cabinet on the wall and it worked great4

From grandfather's fishing boxes to playful storage

When product developer Petra Kammari Enarsson was a young student and often moved, she used to furnish her apartments with old fishing boxes given to her by her grandfather who lived on the west coast of Sweden. Years later, when Petra was developing the new EKET storage series, those boxes came to mind. How could she make the series as flexible as the boxes?

New technologies, new hobbies, a new family member ... both small and large changes affect life and people's needs at home, especially when it comes to all the things that we need space for. Petra Kammari Enarsson is a product developer at IKEA and often visits the homes of customers to experience their everyday living and how good storage can make life at home a little easier. She remembers a family in Copenhagen which expanded every other weekend with the daughter from a previous relationship. ”She didn't have her own room, but the family had a solution where she had a loft bed in the living room and her private things were in a chest on the floor”. Petra thinks it's a good example of how more and more people are living in small spaces, and that a large part of everyday living takes places in the living room where we want things to be both practical and stylish.

Flexible furniture for new needs

Another obvious trend around the world is that many people move more often - just as Petra did when she was young. ”The problem is that a lot of storage furniture is so inflexible – upon moving or new needs arising, they can't be adapted. This means storage isn't optimal and it's difficult to keep track of all your things”. These insights inspired Petra and her colleagues to start looking at a more flexible and personal storage solution – something that can easily be updated so that people don't have to buy new furniture as soon as something in life changes. Petra then started to think about those fishing boxes she had when she was young and which were so easy to stack and move as needed. What if you could make a piece of furniture which consists of various smart modules that can be easily moved around, removed and added to?

Building with blocks

Petra and her team started by ordering cardboard boxes in various sizes. They took the boxes to different room environments where they moved them around like building blocks – stacking and combining them in various ways. The team also researched detailed facts about storage: on average, how many magazines do we have at home? What’s the ideal height for people to put down their mobile phones? ”Many of us put keys, telephones or bags in a specific place when we come home. We usually do it automatically, without thinking about it”, says Petra. The height that seems to suit most people is 31½", so a shelf at that height was a given in the mix of shelves, drawers and cabinets in different colors and styles that eventually became the EKET storage series. ”I'm so pleased that we chose to prioritize playfulness and freedom of choice with all the colors and sizes of EKET”, says Petra, who's looking forward to visiting more homes. ”I think that the customers will find lots of exciting combinations that we haven't even thought of!”.
