Easy assembly, looks great!DEBRAHI would have given this a 5-star rating, but I wish this were wood…4
Great and useful productBABATUNDEGreat and useful product5
Love it. Sturdy and fitsJESSICALove it. Sturdy and fits perfectly where I want it!5
It does the jobHeatherBut I wish it was built better so the doors lined up, and that the push open worked better.3
Just what we neededJASONEasy to assemble and install. They seem sturdy.5
Super functional for small kitchenJoanleePerfect for my small kitchen - it's not too deep yet able to store quite a bit. This is stand-alone wall cabinet and the installer installed it bottom side up so the finished side is visible. The door can be operated with or without the push button and I like the flexibility.4
great, exceptgecko88i bought this a month ago ... along with 14 other EKET pieces — the 14 other pieces went together like a charm — this one, not so much — breakage of critical parts made it impossible to assemble — contacted IKEA, and spoke with a rep who was very courteous and said replacement parts would be sent out, to arrive in 5-7 days and a confirmation of shipping would be emailed — two weeks later, nothing arrived, a follow up conversation with another courteous rep, resulted in another statement of 5-7 days with shipping confirmation e-mail to be sent — two more weeks, no shipping confirmation email, no parts — trying to finish the project and getting frustrated2
Poor QualityDawn31I door hinges were made of plastic. I returned the whole unit and went with a Besta cabinet instead. I would not buy Eket products again.1
Great storageSensitive NoseI bought this & love the storage capacity5
Eket Cabinet is excellentLetty3131Happy to have this product, my kitchen is small but I was able to fit all my stuff. Still planning to buy more , I like the easy maintenance & clean up.5
PerfectionJan12345After having built Eket with drawers / push doors / cubes and having no crafty skills whatsoever I thought it was time to write this review to assure anyone reading the negative reviews that there is something odd going on. If you follow the instructions then this is without a doubt one of the best IKEA building experiences I have ever had. It is so simple and fast that I wonder why I ever put up with Kallax, Pax and Billy. Even the wall mounting and tip over solution is light years better than it used to be at IKEA. Thank you for this wonderful product that is so versatile and flexible.5
messed up finish on laminatecaropopThe cabinet is overall okay. The doors aren't totally even and it's not fully square as other people have mentioned. I can live with that but the finish has problems. The edges of the laminate are discolored, and the worst of it is on the top, of course. I'm too lazy to take it back, since it's only in my office and not my living room.3
Doors will never be evenDIYguruKCI read other reviews that said the doors do not meet up once installed. That is correct. The doors do not stay even and do not stay closed.3
Good, but not greatkaratemomThis is perfect for storing our kids' art/craft supplies but we had issues with the assembly. It isn't a huge deal, but one of the doors is very difficult to keep shut. It is also a pain to keep it looking clean. Since it is mainly used by little kids, there are always dirty little fingerprints on it. I wish it was available in more colors, not just white.3
Problems, but it sure looks grandLove Ikea but hate thisJust tried putting together: 2 cubes, 1 cabinet (2 doors), 1 cabinet (single). For the record: single cabinet: no problem. Double cabinet and 1 cube: disaster because the backing (made of thin masonite) is TOO LARGE BY A 1/4!! Therefore, while the first sections will come together easily, you can't get the rest put on, no matter what you do. This is an IKEA defect, so now I have to drive an hour back to the store, to get it exchanged. And is there any guarantee it will be accurate in the new product??? (shrugs shoulders). Other than that, I am looking forward to using this...some day.2
EKET cabinet with 2-door and 1 shelfFlatpackerI had a little bit of trouble while assembling the first cabinet which uses an align-push-and-slide approach, reducing the use of hardware. After my third attempt, I adopted the Arm-strong method - mallets and all, snapped a couple of plastic studs, but managed to get all four sides aligned. I applied the lessons learned, assembling the four sides of the second cabinet in a clockwise sequence at a fraction of the time!4
What a great and easy to assemble cabinet!!JesaderI'm guessing those of you who are giving one star, didn't read the directions. I found this cabinet quick and very easy to put together.5
2 of 3 greatMihyonTwo of the three cabinets were great, however the third the doors are a little crooked.3
Fits my need.HoppieNeeded a storage cabinet and this is sturdy and well built.5
nice cabinet overallAflacVery nice cabinet, but difficult to put together. It took the installers 3 hours to put together. Should be an easier way -3

From grandfather's fishing boxes to playful storage

When product developer Petra Kammari Enarsson was a young student and often moved, she used to furnish her apartments with old fishing boxes given to her by her grandfather who lived on the west coast of Sweden. Years later, when Petra was developing the new EKET storage series, those boxes came to mind. How could she make the series as flexible as the boxes?

New technologies, new hobbies, a new family member ... both small and large changes affect life and people's needs at home, especially when it comes to all the things that we need space for. Petra Kammari Enarsson is a product developer at IKEA and often visits the homes of customers to experience their everyday living and how good storage can make life at home a little easier. She remembers a family in Copenhagen which expanded every other weekend with the daughter from a previous relationship. ”She didn't have her own room, but the family had a solution where she had a loft bed in the living room and her private things were in a chest on the floor”. Petra thinks it's a good example of how more and more people are living in small spaces, and that a large part of everyday living takes places in the living room where we want things to be both practical and stylish.

Flexible furniture for new needs

Another obvious trend around the world is that many people move more often - just as Petra did when she was young. ”The problem is that a lot of storage furniture is so inflexible – upon moving or new needs arising, they can't be adapted. This means storage isn't optimal and it's difficult to keep track of all your things”. These insights inspired Petra and her colleagues to start looking at a more flexible and personal storage solution – something that can easily be updated so that people don't have to buy new furniture as soon as something in life changes. Petra then started to think about those fishing boxes she had when she was young and which were so easy to stack and move as needed. What if you could make a piece of furniture which consists of various smart modules that can be easily moved around, removed and added to?

Building with blocks

Petra and her team started by ordering cardboard boxes in various sizes. They took the boxes to different room environments where they moved them around like building blocks – stacking and combining them in various ways. The team also researched detailed facts about storage: on average, how many magazines do we have at home? What’s the ideal height for people to put down their mobile phones? ”Many of us put keys, telephones or bags in a specific place when we come home. We usually do it automatically, without thinking about it”, says Petra. The height that seems to suit most people is 31½", so a shelf at that height was a given in the mix of shelves, drawers and cabinets in different colors and styles that eventually became the EKET storage series. ”I'm so pleased that we chose to prioritize playfulness and freedom of choice with all the colors and sizes of EKET”, says Petra, who's looking forward to visiting more homes. ”I think that the customers will find lots of exciting combinations that we haven't even thought of!”.

What is constructed board?

We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light and resource-efficient, yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fiberboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
