Great product, difficult directionsMadisonThe reviewer who mentioned that you can screw the base onto the support even though you have to take the feet off, which is step 1, is a hero. Saved us when trying to build this.
The cabinet itself is nice--beautiful color and very functional. It's frustrating that the directions didn't include the configuration shown in the images of this piece. I would urge IKEA to amend their instructions to add a how-to for the cabinet and three shelves configuration.4
Overall a good product with lots of flexibility - Instructions could use a revisiponVijaySolid product with great flexibility—love that you can connect units, adjust height, and add cabinets or not. The 15-inch depth is perfect.
Assembly had frustrations though. Two instruction sets are included depending on configuration, but certain steps weren't clear and required guesswork - a shared theme from others. One screw hole was slightly oversized—the screw just spun loosely and wouldn't thread. Compared to assembling a BILLY with doors, this was noticeably harder.
The metal also seems thinner than the BROR bench version with drawers. I wish IKEA offered the same options for black that they do for green, including board top shelves—otherwise you're figuring out which parts to buy separately.
A narrower option (under 33" wide) would also be a welcome addition. Overall, a versatile product with lots of potential.4
Nice, but hard to assembleErinBought this cabinet over the weekend to use as a type of microwave cart/bakers rack in my kitchen. This is the most difficult to assemble item I’ve ever bought from IKEA. The directions go the cabinet are fine and the directions for the shelves are fine but they don’t translate well to attaching the cabinet to the shelving unit. The nuts kept slipping through the brackets and there was no easy way to tighten them. I like it, but I will definitely NOT buy another of these in the future.3
directions are Emorysomeone else meantioned that it slips off the support, but they probably didn't realize that you can screw the base onto the support, especially since literally step one tells you to put the little feet on it which makes you unable to screw it. The directions never tell you that you can do it so you have to pay attention so this is more DIY than a lot of more common IKEA builds.4
beautiful, but not sturdyAnonymous reviewerIt's perfect in almost all ways. the bottom cabinet will slide off the supports if weight is applied to them, making it somewhat delicate. the instructions also do NOT reflect what you see in the picture. make sure to really be cognizant of where you're placing shelves if you want it to mirror what you see here. additionally, some of the parts that are supposed to slot in do not push out far enough to catch — just use a flathead to nudge it out farther and it'll be fine. otherwise, it's well made and worth the money. i love it, i just wish the cabinet fit better.4
Anonymous reviewerI loved! Just what I needed!5
