Parts not made to specBettinaIkea replied to one review that the difficult assembly could be remedied by hiring Task Rabbit. I have assembled many Ikea items without issue. In fact, the first Bror shelf I bought (when they first came out) had no issues with the build. I bought my second shelf a year later and inserting the shelves was a nightmare. The unit was nowhere near square and each shelf kept popping out. I would get one corner/side of the shelf in fine. When putting the pressure needed to get the second the last corner in, the first would pop out and so on. Placing a very heavy object on the shelf kept it in place. With a little of my own handiwork, I managed to make the product usable. I hope Ikea will review the current stock and verify this shelf is still the same as when it was first manufactured.
Incredibly difficult and frustrating to assembleBradI’ve purchased lots of IKEA furniture in the past and never had issues with assembly like with this shelve. It’s incredibly difficult and frustrating to put together. The connections required an extraordinary amount of hammering as if they were not meant to go together. The whole process just didn’t feel right. I ended up with lots of metal shavings from the hammering and forcing the connections together fit. It almost felt unsafe to assemble this shelf.
