DurableMonicaWe bought this cabinet (or one very similar) in approximately 2002. When I was married, I moved it from an apartment to our new home. I got divorced and moved it from Minnesota to Michigan, and several times in Michigan. I finally stuck it in the garage for storage as I thought I wanted an upgrade, plus all the moving took its toll. I find myself considering buying it again as it was quite functional, looked good, and was unexpectedly durable. It's possible that the quality has changed, but I was quite happy with it.
Please ikea , include instructions Anonymous reviewerThis item is multi-items assembled to make this piece. There’s no clear instructions to build it from beginning to end. Left to the buyer to figure it out, which is terrible idea from ikea. Won’t be buying from them anymore, bye bye ikea haha
Looks good, top heavyAnonymous reviewerOverall, the piece looks nice and I enjoy the functionality and look. It is slightly top heavy - we have a TV on top and when I push the drawers or doors shut, the TV topples back and forth a bit. Also a little pricey for what it is.
As for assembly, I can see why others noted the assembly as difficult -- it's not "one item" you're purchasing, rather *17* different pieces that get assembled together from a very configurable line of furniture. There's also no one set of instructions - you have to use each piece's instructions and figure out yourself where to start and how to follow the word-less instructions to stop or continue based on the configuration you bought. I am what others have called an "advanced Ikea assembler" and it took me ~2.5-3 hours and I didn't find it too bad -- didn't have to "undo" any pieces. Lastly, because its from a configurable set, you end up with a LOT of spare parts. Note: put the legs on before you stand it up, the legs come separate :)
Quality product, tough to assembleAnonymous reviewerOnce assembled, this is a great storage unit: compact frame with spacious storage area. It was very difficult to assemble. I've assembled a lot of Ikea furniture, and this one has some ambiguous steps, particularly the branching choices depending on your configuration. The pictures don't necessarily clearly convey the branched choices. Also while each component had its own instructions, there were no instructions clarifying in what order to assemble the components.
Looks GoodMaryOnce the cabinet is assembled it looks nice; putting it together was a nightmare - so many of the parts did not align up with the instructions. This is the only piece of furniture that I've purchased from IKEA that I would not recommend
