not ok in one furniture. Ok on the other one.Alberto M.Front of the drawer cannot be leveled. Probably the holes are not symetrical.3

Perfect fit!SharonI purchased these drawers to go inside of the Besta cabinets, that I used to make a bench seat. They fit perfectly and made the entire project come together!5
Nice optionPaulineA drawer is a nice option over hinges. The pop open drawer tends to protrude a fraction of an inch, and opens on light touch. The soft close is a little more effort to open, but stays closed, and has a neater appearance.5

My Error: I initially bought the wrong drawers because I did not read the parts list from the Besta Planner.JacquelineWe purchased the 15" high Besta TV unit. After using the Besta Planner online to explore different looks for the unit, we opted for shelves over drawers in the left & right openings. This review is for those drawers and how they relate to the Ikea Besta Planner. At first, I purchased the 10.25" high drawers, because only that height and the 15" height were shown in the planner for the 15" Besta TV Unit. Since we wanted exposed shelves on the top of the drawers, and we knew that 15" must be full height, we concluded the 10.25" must be correct. We went to the self-service warehouse area and picked up 2 of the 9.75" drawers because it seemed logical that was the right size because it wasn't full height (15") and it would be slightly smaller than the 10.25" drawer front. After getting one drawer assembled, it was only then I determined that drawer was too tall to work with the shelf. I then went to the main Ikea website and determined there is a 5 7/8" high drawer, but the drawer height specs are not shown in the Best Planner CAD diagram you build. While it seemed illogical the drawer for this unit could be so short, we went back to Ikea, bought 2 of the 5 7/8" drawers, brought them home and assembled one. That was absolutely the correct size. Assembly was very easy on the 5 7/8" drawer, although quality control was definitely lacking on one of the two I purchased. On that one, the slit where one piece joins another was not completely cut; the two joined pieces would not sit at a 90' angle to one another. I had to chisel out some of the MDF in the slit to make the drawer sit straight. Also on that drawer kit, the veneer was cracked & peeling on what would be the lower rear edge where the drawer back attaches. Because it would not be visible, I will not be returning it. Also: it should be noted there is ink printing on the inside of the Best drawer fronts, sold separately. Although the instruction sheets for the drawer do not indicate, the printing on the drawer front must be right-side-up when you attach it to the drawer. The holes on the drawer front left & right sides align both right-side-up and upside-down with the 5 7/8" drawer, but if you put the fronts on upside-down, they won't correctly align with the bottom of the shelf. Because I damaged the 9.75" drawer during dis-assembly, I discarded it. However, I will be returning the 9.75" drawer that I did not open. In hindsight, I believe the heights offered in the Besta Planner diagrams for drawers for the 15" TV Unit are actually not drawer heights, but DOOR HEIGHTS, because the 10.25" doors I initially bought align perfectly with the holes in the 5 7/8" drawers I wound up buying. The door holes did not align at all with the holes in the 10.25" drawer. My recommendation: don't do what I did. Don't use the Besta Planner and then ignore the parts list after you Finalize. I used it just to visualize the finished item but never ran the "Finalize" button to generate the parts list. I just did it in conjunction with writing this review, and it shows the correct drawer size in the list of parts. If I could make one change to make this a better buying experience, I would add an extra layer in the Besta Planner for viewing the drawers and showing the drawer heights in the viewer BEFORE selecting drawer fronts. The planner would lead you to believe the drawer section entails buying a drawer & drawer front as one purchase, when in fact they are sold separately so Ikea can offer customizable options. This being the case, if the planner had that extra step wherein you choose the drawer and insert it in the Planner before and separate from chosing a drawer front, you would see the drawer height you need and know you need to purchase the items separately.3

Besta units are great storageANTONELLAI have Besta all over the house. In the den and in the craft room, it provides great storage. In the living room, we hung several units on the wall for an entertainment center. Can't be beat for the price.5

I am a huge IkeaTraceyI am a huge Ikea fan. A large portion of my furniture comes from IKEA. This into that I created is beautiful and I receive compliments all the time. Some of the hardware is the disappointment. It works. Some parts of it aren’t as nice. Overall. My IKEA furniture has held up well through four kids and normal living. I am a big fan.5
Love that I was ableMaryLove that I was able to assemble and install in a few hours!5
Excellent laundry storageJenniferI use a Besta unit with drawers and a shallow Besta top cabinet in my laundry for storage of laundry pods, household cleaning supplies, and dryer sheets. I love this drawer instead of having a door because I immediately see everything stored. I tend to forget what I have in the back cabinets so these drawers add amazing function/organization to my laundry. You cannot beat the price and function of IKEA storage.5
Works great in home entertainment areaVerified BuyerVery happy with purchase and value!5
Price too High for quality.Verified BuyerI need to have something narrow and arrange-able for TV etc. This for and blended with the living/dining room and kitchen in an open floor plan. Too bad the quality is not as good as my kitchen. It works and does the job but I can't get all the drawers level and matching. Oh well.3

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.
