Stickers do not come off and look terribleGeorgieWe didn't even get as far as assembling this. One of the posts has two huge visible stickers on them and they won't come off without leaving huge chunks of sticky paper behind. I'm now going to have to drive an hour to return this piece of junk.
I assume this is defective?SarahHej!
I am a person who enjoys assembling IKEA furniture. I currently have multiple shelves, a desk, chairs, etc from IKEA. I went to IKEA today to buy a narrow shelf that would fit in a small space between my desk and kitchen counter. This was pretty much the only option that would fit. Plus it was cheap! What a good deal, I thought. I will bring this home and assemble it in like 15 minutes and go out for dinner.
No. No. It took me almost an hour to get this done. It is very simple. Just shelves that you have to screw in! The shelves will not screw in. The screws need to be at a very specific angle and even then they might not work. Everything you have read in the other reviews about the screws is true. I wish I had read these reviews before purchasing this shelf. I am extremely frustrated and hungry. Do not make my mistake. Do not buy this.
Also one of the legs is visibly shorter than the others??? Why
Absolute nightmare to fixRajarajanSome of the screws did not fit the slots, it was an absolute nightmare
So annoying to assembleMollyI have bought three of these to have in my garage and while they are great for the price, they are just so annoying to put together. The screws are sooo tiny and hard to get in at the correct angle.
Faulty Screws!!!RociohSome screws go in easily while most do not. Decided to return it. Not worth the hassle! Jonaxel shelf was much easier to put together.
Good Shelf, Poor AssemblyYaliThe shelf itself is great- compact, light, great value for $25.
That said, I found the threaded holes the screws went into to be inconsistent. Some went in smoothly, while I felt like I had to cut my own threads for others. The fact the screws are so close to the shelf surface made this significantly more difficult.
Still good for the price, but bear in mind it may not be a quick assembly.
Good ShelfPeterGood quality shelf. It’s a little tricky to get the screws in and takes some patience but overall great!
Good valueVictorI bought this a few months ago and was easy to set up.
Overall the value of this was great and is durable
Great value! Perfect for small spacesValeriyaUsed this to organize my closet! Screwing took a little finesse. You have to angle it just right so it takes a little time. Some of the shelves weren’t bent down all the way so I had to use my drill to really make sure the screws were in all the way but hey you can’t beat the price.
This is well worth it!!!JulieI got 2 and put them together. I love them. They look very nice and work very well. I highly recommend.
Threading screws takes techniqueWilliamAmazing quality for the price. I do agree that threading the screws- especially the upper ones by the shelf- can be tricky. Use a long-handled screwdriver. Strong hands help a lot, too. I used a drill with a screwdriver attachment to do the lower of each two screws to get it attached, then finished the upper screws closest to the shelf by hand. Took patience, but the finished product was worth it. I like the adjustable feet and the wall brackets. For the price, it's amazing. Just know that threading the screws isn't easy.
Don't buy thisStefanieThis is probably the most frustrating piece of furniture I've had to put together from IKEA. You can't screw the screws in closest to the shelves because they're so close you can't get good leverage on getting your hand in there. I finally gave up and just put in the bottom screws. Also, I couldn't get the backing piece on because one of the screw holes wasn't drilled right . I tried everything and couldn't get the screw in. My hand was red and sore from all the attempts. Such a simple shelf should have taken 10 minutes but I spent about an hour struggling with the screws. I've put together many things from ikea (dressers, tv stands, tables, cabinets, etc) and this simple shelf had me ready to give up lol.
Very good valueBerthaNeeded a not too bulky but sturdy shelving unit of medium height for a small space and this does the job. It's holding my craft supplies in organizer boxes very well and some are heavy, (I try to distribute weight well or at least put heaviest stuff at bottom.)
Holes Not Drilled RightLilyThis thing took me 2.5 hours because out of the 32 holes for the screws, 4 of them were not drilled right so the screw would take two turns and stop. I didn't want to drill the hole too big or too far, so I painstakingly used the feet screws to force the hole open using pliers. Otherwise, it is aesthetically pleasing for the price. As expected, it is thin and would not use it to store anything over 10lbs. Ideal for an office or knick-knacks. I used it to store my puzzles.
Bang for the buckAaronThese are sturdy shelves for the price, easy to assemble and look sleek in any room. I have 4.
Love itSamanthaI love how much it can hold; now my office space is clean!
Great ShelfAnnI bought this for my laundry room. The height and width were perfect for extra storage space in a small room. It was easy to assemble and is very sturdy.
Complete FrustrationMattThis shelf is not worth $20, it's not even worth $5. They could not pay me to take another one of these units.
The placement of the screw holes makes securing the shelves to the vertical supports incredibly frustrating - prepare to scrape the skin of your knuckles off as you try to get them installed.
That is, assuming you can even screw the screws in. My unit had multiple screw holes, on multiple different vertical supports, that simply did not accept screws. It's like they weren't even threaded - I could turn the screwdriver as much as I wanted and make no progress. The quality control of these units is atrocious.
I own and love many IKEA products. This is the worst I've ever experienced, by a long margin. I genuinely hate it.
Horrible screw designMattShredded knuckles and some of the screws still won't thread properly. Not worth it.
$20 shelves, $100 of frustrationDanI usually am impressed with Ikea's designs, but this shelving unit has a major flaw in my opinion. Each shelf is fastened in each corner with two screws that are oriented vertically underneath each shelf (you can kind of see it in the photos). The problem is that the top screw for each shelf is much too close to the horizontal part of the shelf so there isn't enough room to get a screwdriver lined up properly with the screw. Combined with relatively small screws and typically poor Ikea threading on the supports, and assembly is an exercise in frustration. Once assembled, the unit itself seems fine for the price.
