Nice Closet OrganizerGilThis is a nice organizer for my closet and was easy to assemble. The annoying part is the expensive delivery and they also missed one rod and the other rod was missing the extension part.3
Closet systemHughThis is the best system ever. Our two closets in nyc were too small for all our close. So we bought this to free stand in the room. Best decision ever. We each get a dresser and plenty of extra shelves and hanging to offset what we already had. Love it so much that I removed the small closets in my rentals and installed these. The renters love them. 5
Good, economical optionMichaelI finally finished my awkwardly small walk in with the Aurdal system, and overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the results. I love the height of these units, and there is still enough space above them to store rarely needed items. The drawers work great, and I like the shoe shelves. One thing I don't quite understand is the offset grooves in the side of the shelves that cause either a 1"+ gap at the back of the shelves (letting anything and everything fall down the back), or that same gap at the front (and still a gap of about 3/8" at the back). The instructions have you install with the larger gap at the back, but I guess I installed them backwards, except the ones over the drawers, so there wasn't a weird gap over the drawers. Another "con" is the very weakly installed legs that won't stay up straight under the units. One thing I found frustrating in the installation process is trying to keep drawer slides/shoe shelves/hanging rods in place with one hand while trying to install the tiny screws that you attach them with, especially the ones at the back of the units. If you can plan ahead and install all of your slides and shelf pegs while the sides are still lying on the ground, it's much, much easier! (You can not pre-install the hanging rod brackets, though) Not sure if Ikea will allow mention of this, but- Because the closet door is in one of the long walls, essentially rendering that space useless, I needed to figure out a way to utilize at least one of the corners. Unfortunately, Aurdal doesn't provide any corner solutions at all. However, I ordered two 30" Sektion corner wall cabinets and hung one to match the bottom of the Aurdal units, and the other about 15" above that one. I installed the Utrusta corner carousel in the bottom unit. This was considerably less costly than any other closet corner solutions I was able to find. I estimate that I've increased the storage space in my closet by 30-40% with this installation. I even got the Vesken shelf units to tuck back into the narrow, otherwise unusable space in the other corner, and it's perfect for storing linens.4
