IKEA Introduces New Chest of Drawers Featuring an Industry-Leading Safety Design

New range includes IKEA patented Anchor and Unlock safety innovation in-line with new standards set by the groundbreaking Stop Tip-overs of Unstable, Risky Dressers on Youth (STURDY) Act.
Conshohocken, PA (October 1, 2024) – Today, IKEA U.S. announced the launch of its new Chest of Drawers range, with redesigns to the popular MALM and HEMNES dressers.
Leading the charge in safety, innovation and sustainability, the new chest of drawer range, STORKLINTA and GULLABERG, feature the recently patented IKEA Anchor and Unlock safety technology. As an early champion for new industry safety standards, IKEA has become the first major retailer to release a new range that complies with the STURDY Act.
Through a rigorous assessment, IKEA developed its Anchor and Unlock solution, a one-of-a-kind technology – providing customers with a safe way to secure their chests or dressers. When attached to a wall, the new unlock mechanism enables multiple drawers of a chest to be opened simultaneously.
The STORKLINTA and GULLABERG are now available in IKEA U.S. stores and online. Throughout the end of the year, additional chest of drawer families will be introduced. These new designs will replace the MALM and HEMNES, which will both be discontinued by the end of 2026.
