Ingka Investments announces it will take full ownership of Traemand, a U.S. based kitchen service company. This acquisition will allow further development and complete integration into the IKEA kitchen service business across all IKEA Retail U.S. locations.

Ingka Investments, part of the Ingka Group (which also includes IKEA Retail and Ingka Centres), today announces it will take full ownership of Traemand, a U.S. based kitchen service company.  Traemand has been a part of the IKEA kitchen service business in the U.S., Canada and UK to simplify the planning and installation process for customers. Ingka Investments had previously acquired 49% of the company in 2018.

Today’s acquisition announcement is an important step as IKEA U.S. continues to accelerate its retail transformation, ensuring the shopping experience is accessible and affordable for customers, whenever and however they choose to shop.

“With Traemand fully onboard, we can bring our kitchen expertise and offerings into one seamless customer experience. We are taking a more dynamic approach to investments and acquisitions so we can strengthen our IKEA Retail business and invest in companies like Traemand, which offer new capabilities and services,” says Krister Mattsson, Managing Director of Ingka Investments.

Traemand provides systems and digital tools that have provided IKEA customers with a more efficient kitchen buying process from measuring and planning their kitchen (online and in store) to installation and customer support. This acquisition will allow further development and complete integration into the IKEA kitchen service business across all IKEA Retail U.S. locations. The full integration into the IKEA organization will take place over a two-year period.

The IKEA partnership with Traemand first started in 2005. It has been a long-standing and fully-dedicated partner for the IKEA kitchen service business in the U.S. and more recently Canada and the United Kingdom.

“We are delighted to be joining IKEA and become further integrated across the IKEA Retail business. Buying a kitchen is one of the biggest home purchases that customers make and we want the process to be as simple and convenient as possible. This will allow us to make our kitchen service concept available to more countries in the future,” says Bjarne Rasmussen, Founder of Traemand.
