How to make a flexible mattress sofa backrest
This cool sofa is made using fabric-covered mattresses. Its stylish backrest hangs on the wall and can easily be taken down for floor lounging. Here is how to make it.
Take two mattresses. Choose a fabric you like and sew covers to them using a sewing machine. Be sure to save extra fabric for the hoops you’ll attach later.
Choose buttons you like. We chose fabric buttons for the fronts and simple flat ones for the backs (to work as stoppers). Use needle and thread to sew the buttons through each mattress. We used 10 buttons per mattress, evenly spaced.
Use the extra fabric to make three hoops. As you sew a seam along the long side to join the two mattresses, attach the hoops as you go. You're done! Secure three hooks to your wall and hang your mattress sofa backrest. When you feel like lounging on the floor, just take it down and relax!
