How to elevate your IVAR cabinets

Two IVAR cabinets are custom painted in the same shade as the walls and hold books, artwork, plants, and a lamp on top.

How to elevate your IVAR cabinets

Want to customize your own set of IVAR cabinets? We love painting ours the same color as the walls for a seamless, uncluttered look.

The inside of an cabinet is arranged to organize magazines, a sewing machine, and various other items.

IVAR comes ready to paint, so don’t worry about sanding or priming your cabinets first. Begin by picking a paint that works well on wooden surfaces. Next, measure out where you’d like to place your door handles (ours are leather) and drill a hole to fasten them.

Remember, this is the look we chose, but go with your style intuition and pick the paint color and handles that speak to you the most.

A custom painted IVAR cabinet is being drilled to add a door handle.

We love to see our customers get creative with our products. Go for it! But please note that altering or modifying IKEA products so they can no longer be re-sold or used for their original purpose, means the IKEA commercial warranties and your right to return the products will be lost.
