Classic, sturdy and easy elegance.AlexandraThis chair is easy to assemble, fits with most decor, and being clear gives a room a room a spacious appearance by opening up the floor space. For a warmer look place a fur pillow or throw on it. Easy elegance.
Cracked Avery single one we've ownedSylviaDefinitely don't buy this if someone over 100lbs will use this. We've cracked 6. Each one lasted less than 4yrs, but ofc is out of the warranty period. Oh, but also don't get these if you have kids bc the smudging and smearing is awful.
Split IssueFeliciaAs others have pointed out, you will one day hear a loud crack when you sit, which is the chair splitting in the middle. And it's not a small crack either. It splits from the edge of the seat right up to the back rendering it unusable. Very disappointed.

Well-known issues, where’s the redesign?PaulLove the look and comfort of these chairs, but there are well-documented safety issues with their design that IKEA continues to acknowledge but has not addressed in any way.
All that would be required to solve the most obvious flaw (the unsupported front of the seat bottom, would be to weld a cross bar at the height of the radius bend for the legs, and add a support spacer similar to the back of the seat. Done. Sure, it may not look as “clean” but it would add significantly to the chair’s safety and durability, rather than other “pretty” product with diminishing reviews due to an oversight in original design.
Buyer BewareSheilaI have been using this chair for more than a few years now as the look is so stylish in my beauty room. Until last night, I just was sitting on it as usual, then I heard a loud cracking sound, the chair split and crack in half in the middle of the sitting area which cut my thigh. Blood was everywhere…. I’m so disappointed and upset that this chair would fail like this! From reading all the other reviews it seems that others are having the same issue as me! This is horrible and I will now be reminded everyday of this faulty product because of the cut on my right thigh… ugh! Buy at own risk! Please do something about this safety issue Ikea. Poor quality it can be use for looks only!
Believe the reviewsTiffaniI purchased 6 in October 2021. The chair cracked down the middle as I was on a zoom conference call. Thankfully I wasn't injured. Immediately contacted customer service on the chat line. No warranty. So I now have to go out and buy 6 more chairs.

Great! Then Fail CatastrophicallyAnonymous reviewerLove these, would have given 5 stars a year ago; they are comfortable, easy to clean, have a great contemporary look, and up until about the 10th year... they are so sturdy. Within the last 6 months though, 3 of the original 6 we bought 10 years ago have failed/broken suddenly along the back ridge and 2 others have cracked around the metal connecting points. We are not overweight, we do not misuse them, we never have them outside so UV damage is not present. Having studied materials science for my degree, observing the type of failure and since they all broke within months of each other — I know this is a material failure and the plastic has reached its stress/age limit. We have the smoke grey version, and other colors may perform differently, as pigment can affect aging/rigidity differently, but I would be aware that these seem to have a limited lifespan. When they do fail, it's violent too, my husband fell backward when the back snapped off suddenly at dinner.
Not all it’s Cracked up to be….StuartWe have 4 in our office. They are not suitable to be used as a chair because they crack in half. So disappointing. We never used ammonia on the plastic either. Can you engineer a lasting seat please?
Great chair but we have broken a few KenOverall they are great chairs and I have a number in my businesses.
The only issue I have found is they will crack as people put pressure on the corners of the seat with their hands as they get up.

Love these chairsKristnI bought 12 of these chairs for our office breakroom in 2019. They look great and have held up perfectly. I recently (a year and a half ago) purchased a few more for the waiting area of a different office. All have held up well with no cracks or scratches. They are beautiful chairs.

CrackedTrevaI purchased 6 chairs 10yrs ago. All but one is cracked at the center of the seat. Even with light occasional use. The first one cracked within the first year. I am very unhappy because the style was perfect for my design needs. This chair has proven that it's definitely not for long term use. I was intending to replace them but I see through the reviews that many people are still having the same problem. Each family member is way under the maximum weight, so buyer beware!
