It is not recommended to modify the HEMNES product from its original design or assembly instructions. Such alterations, including changing components, removing parts (like doors or legs), cutting, painting, or using it for unintended purposes, can void the 365-day return policy and any applicable warranty. Modifications may also affect the product's structural integrity or stability, which is especially important given the warning that the product must be securely anchored to prevent tipping. While standard hardware is typically included, customers can explore other knobs and pulls available from IKEA, ensuring they are suitable for the product.
Each shelf of the HEMNES unit has a maximum load capacity of 66 lbs. A tested weight limit for the drawers is not available.
The HEMNES unit can be assembled or used without the glass doors. However, the pre-drilled holes for the hinges or adjustable shelves on the inside of the frame will be visible. The glass doors are included in the packaging and price of the unit.
Individual components such as doors, drawers, or shelves for HEMNES units are not sold separately and cannot be added to existing units. To achieve a specific design with these components, the entire unit must be purchased.
Solid doors are not available for the HEMNES unit, and replacement solid doors or panels to replace the glass are not offered.
The HEMNES cabinet has an overall depth of 14 5/8 inches.
IKEA products are designed for self-assembly. Assembly services are offered through a partnership with TaskRabbit. More information on how to arrange assembly and details about pricing can be found on the TaskRabbit website or through the IKEA website's assembly services section.

What is solid wood?
Solid wood is one of our favorite materials and is part of our Scandinavian heritage. It is also a timeless material with many uses. Regardless of the tree species, it is durable, beautiful and renewable. We strive to use this raw material as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste – and we also invest in facilities and logistics so that we can increase the use of recycled wood.
