Poor QualitySusanI have ordered other items from IKEA and they were well made. This cabinet has numerous issues - no metal sleeve in one adjusting foot, split center shelf, holes on one side did not match up with hardware, one shelf won't fit because of the hole issues, etc. But for the fact that I have another one that is fine and matches, I would send this back. As it is, I cannot use one shelf, and one drawer does not fit properly. Quality control needs to look at this. Item was manufactured in Brazil.1
Poorly designedJoyI am a lover of ikea & its products, but this one is a hard pass. The drawers are so terribly designed and constantly come off the track and the ledges inside the cabinet are also terribly designed. We had to buy support screws & hinges to support the ledges & actually hold things. I honestly want my money back for this product, its does not hold up. Overall a beautiful cabinet from the outside but in no way built for actual practicality. Spend your money on something else1
Not Perfect, but Pretty Good and Worth the PriceRhiannonI bought the Hemnes glass-door cabinet along with the Hemnes bookcase to add storage in the kitchen. The pine construction is worth the added price: it feels light but sound, like any of the pine bookcases I've had for decades. One may consider installing a 1/4" plywood panel rather than the MDF/particle board which forms the bottom of each drawer and the back of the cabinet--an easy, affordable upgrade which would improve the longevity and structural integrity of the unit. Have third-party anti-tip fasteners ready to go, especially if you have children. The hardest part of assembling the cabinet was simply recognizing the parts (easy enough), besides the physical task of assembling something on the floor rather than on a workbench. I made sure to have wood glue on hand for added strength. Overall, the process was somewhat enjoyable and meditative. Naturally, I would love to have the same furniture made of oak or another hardwood, but I'm on a budget. Would buy others.4
Total garbageMichelleThis was so tedious to put together only for it to have a CARDBOARD back and CARDBOARD drawers! Put any books in and their weight rips the rear ‘panel’ (made of cardboard!!!!) right off and the whole thing collapses. Same with the sides.
What a flimsy, expensive piece of crap. I bought 2 of these and another HEMNES and I regret this purchase but how TF can I return it? It won’t go in the car that’s for sure.
SAVE YOUR MONEY! This is the last IKEA purchase I’ll be making.1
Poor quality Anonymous reviewerTakes forever to out together. Feels and looks cheap, shouldn't have paid extra for a better quality product 1
Nice with a few issuesMarkMy wife likes her cabinet but a few things were disappointing.
1. She likes to display plates but there wasn't a grove in the shelves to allow this. Her husband put a grove in each shelf with his table saw.
2. Would like to have lights in the cabinet.
3. There were small cracks found in the side panels and the local store gave them a discount because of it.
Other than the above, she is very happy with the cabinet.4
DisappointedTatianaVery cheap quality. I don't recognize Ikea products.2
Overpriced and Cheap MaterialAbdulkerimI bought the Hemnes red cabinet and I’m not satisfied at all. The product quality is very poor and it’s overpriced. Very cheap materials were used. 1
Looks great!AnneWe recently updated our bedroom furniture with Hemnes. The glass door cabinet adds a nice touch!5
Excellent but knob design needs improvement LilyI like how it looks like in my office. It has a very natural and pleasant scent every time I open the cabin, no need to de-gas after installation at all. Hence I believe the material is solid real pine and the paint is also environmentally friendly.
The only complaint I have is that the installation of draw and cabinet knobs are extremely painful. Like other joints, the knobs also are direct wood-screw fastening. However the knobs are tiny round with a smooth finish surface. It’s a really struggle to get them installed and I have one knob that cannot get the last millimeter in. In the end I have to order knobs with threaded inserts. It’s really a shame that I like the color and shape of ikea original knobs. Would be nice if ikea can get spares of the knobs or use threaded inserts.

Works so wellLaraWe love the Hemnes line. This piece is beautiful. I do wish it came in turquoise so we could put one in our ikea kitchen as well. I use it as a linen closet for towels and sheets. The skinny drawer we use for extra toiletries.5
Flimsy, poorly designed, and overpricedTimothyI just put my Hemnes cabinet into the trash. I am replacing it with a well-made, old wooden cabinet purchased at a thrift store. This was never a favorite. There are some good features, like the good quality hardwood shelves. But one of the hinges never worked properly and the door was always popping out. The drawers are made of very cheap, soft wood and are hard to align correctly. I was always worried that it would tip over since I was not able to anchor it to my wall.
My wife has now forbidden me from buying any more Ikea furniture (althou she likes a couple of the Ikea items that we have). The company does not help itself or its customers with products like this. The thrift shop said no thanks when I offered it to them for nothing.2
Great buyYohan.Beautiful and elegant book shelves, looks amazing in my study room5
Great if you do not want to use the drawersMirandaThe cabinet looks wonderful, but I can't use the drawers because they collapse with any amount of weight in them. It's pretty ridiculous.2
CheapEleeThe bottom drawers are made of cardboard!!!!! That’s why they don’t show you a pic of it. My bottom drawer completely collapsed! The bookcase is gorgeous but so cheap!!1
Listen to the other 1 starsAnetaI have built a lot of Ikea furniture in my years on this planet. Most have gone well and the few had very minor issues that could be remedied easily. This piece however has had big issues and I am not even able to finish building it! The cam locks do not turn properly, one snapped completely. The holes were misaligned on the main frame. Only on one side. but all three pieces that i was trying to connect could not be connected because the holes do not light up. I now have to wait for customer service to get back to me in 1-2 days to see what my options are.1
The worst piece of IKEA furniture I ownMacyI have had this cabinet for less than a year and it is already so unsturdy that it is unusable. My glass dishes fell in the middle of the night. IKEA won’t refund the item now so I am out the cost of the unit as it is completely unusable.1
love it BUTPrassedeI love how this piece looks - timeless style, sleek, not massive. BUT it is not sturdy: wobbly with cardboard back and drawer bottoms. So I braced the back with cross wires. Now, less than two years later, the bottom drawer is sagging so that it pulled itself off its rails. That drawer holds spare tablecloths, and I've opened it not half a dozen times since I bought the thing. (vs the top drawer which has spices and I open several times a day.) My woodworker dude says it can't really be fixed. So now what?! Plus I have the 'Swedish red' which I love but seems discontinued. . . . Please advise! Thanks!3
The worst quality I have seenMohamadIkea quality is going down with the factory defect I can see, never expected the low quality on HEMNES products! 1
Beautiful CabinetJanetI absolutely love this cabinet in green!5
