What is the best operating temperature for fridge and freezers?
A fridge should be kept between +3°C to +5°C for best performance and longevity of food. A freezer should be kept at -18°C for storage, and down to -25°C for freezing.
Keep in mind that the degrees indicated are a set temperature. As the heat rises and the cold falls, the actual temperature in the cabinet will vary. The upper shelves are always warmer than the lower ones, so frost-sensitive foods such as vegetables should not be placed on the lower shelves. How much the temperature varies depends on the cooling technology used for the specific fridge or freezer model.
Did you know...? Every degree of temperature reduction reduces electricity consumption by around 5%.
