Why is my dishwasher making noise?

It's normal for your dishwasher to make some noise, such as a buzzing sound before it takes in water. Other noises may mean dishes are too close together or there’s a mechanical fault. Enlarge this answer to read more.

Noise occurs during the wash program
Cause: The dishes have been placed too close together.
Solution: Place the dishes so that the surfaces are not touching. The spray jets must be able to reach the surface of the dishware. Check that the spray arm can rotate freely and that light dishes are secure.
Buzzing sound shortly after start-up
Cause: The sound may be due to the dishwasher starting a buzzing sound before the machine takes in water.
Solution: It is a normal operating sound.
A rattling sound occurs during the wash program
Cause: Mechanical parts of the dishwasher are damaged or prevented from working due to foreign objects.
Solution: Check that nothing is stuck in the inner filter system. If there is a problem with the mechanical parts, you need to call a service technician.
The dishwasher makes a beeping sound while an error code appears in the display
Cause: The dishwasher indicates that an action is required.
