I can't connect my app/phone to my TRÅDFRI gateway, what am I doing wrong?

The fact that you cannot connect your app/phone to your TRÅDFRI gateway can be due to several things. Start by making sure you have the IKEA Homesmart app downloaded to your phone (Android/iPhone), a TRÅDFRI controller and a TRÅDFRI gateway. Enlarge this answer to see the full troubleshooting guide.

  1. Make sure your gateway has power. If it does not have power, check that the power cable is inserted correctly.
  2. Make sure that your gateway is connected to your home router via cable and that the router has an internet connection.
  3. To continue, you need to download the IKEA Home smart app from the App Store or Google Play and follow the app's step-by-step guide when installing your gateway.
  4. Follow the in-app instructions on how to set up your gateway and connect controllers and light sources.
  5. Find the QR code on the back of your gateway and scan it with your mobile phone according to the instructions in the app. If you have trouble scanning the code, you can enter the gateway code manually. You can find the gateway code on the back of your gateway. If the problem persists, check that all cables are connected and then try again.
  6. Make sure the mobile phone is connected to the wifi network, the same network that your gateway is connected to.
  7. If you have problems, install your gateway by following the steps in the app. You can reset your products by performing a factory reset and reinstalling.
