What kitchen items can I use in the microwave?
In a microwave, you can use any items that is approved for microwave use. However, there are a few things you should avoid heating in the microwave. Always read your microwave oven’s manual before first use.
- Plastic containers that are not approved for microwave use (they may melt or release chemicals)
- Metal (lids, cutlery, travel mugs)
- Unpeeled eggs (they can crack or explode)
- Aluminum foil or items lined with aluminum (can cause sparks and flashes)
- Porcelain and ceramics with gold or silver trim
