But times are changing. IKEA has become more digital and accessible while embracing new ways to connect with more people. Customer behaviour and media consumption have changed, and the IKEA Catalogue has been less used. Inter IKEA Systems B.V., the worldwide IKEA franchisor, has therefore taken the emotional but rational decision to respectfully end the successful career of the IKEA Catalogue - and look to the future with excitement.

IKEA Southeast Asia & Mexico post MYR 3.4 billion in turnover

Swedish home furnishing retailer more than doubled online sales in Southeast Asia during its toughest year

Kuala Lumpur - After more than a decade of expansion and growth, IKEA Southeast Asia & Mexico charted its first drop in revenue by closing out its most challenging financial year with MYR 3.4 billion in turnover. At the same time, the COVID crisis accelerated the company’s digital transformation as interest in home furnishings surged during lock-downs.

IKEA to remove non-rechargeable alkaline batteries by October 2021

IKEA will take another step to inspire and enable people to live a healthier and more sustainable life at home by removing non-rechargeable alkaline batteries from its global home furnishing range by October 2021. From chair covers to shelving units, lamps to woven rugs, this expressive collection sees a blend of Bangkok street style and Scandinavian home furnishing. The SAMMANKOPPLAcollection is now available on IKEA.my, to be followed by IKEA Malaysia stores soon.

FY19 Annual Report Released

In one of the most challenging years yet for retailers in Southeast Asia, we charged forward to transform our business and met more people than ever before in our IKEA stores and Ikano shopping centres. This report provides a snapshot of our financial results and highlights from our last year. We launched e-commerce in Thailand, opened a new store in Malaysia, started up an interior design service in Singapore and advanced plans to enter two new mega markets: the Philippines and Mexico. We also built up Toppen in South Malaysia (opened with a bang in November 2019) and grew turnover in our existing centres by 34%.
