How to make baby mealtime easier (and more fun)

You’re about to start an exciting new chapter in your baby’s development.  It can be messy, but it’s also a time for small discoveries, shared smiles and building everyday routines together. With a few smart choices, mealtimes can feel simpler, calmer and a lot more fun for everyone at the table.

The spoon has a short, softly curved handle that’s comfortable and easy for your baby to pick up and hold, so they can easily get on with the business of learning to use it. Don’t be afraid of the mess!

Spills, splashes and dribbles are all part of learning to eat. It doesn’t take long to become a master mess manager! Keep a couple of clean cloths handy for each meal so you can keep on top of wayward bits of food. Give them a colourful GRÖNFINK wipeable placemat for the table and a KLADDIG bib. They can relax and have fun and you can breathe easy knowing you have a head start on the cleaning. When they’re finished, simply wipe the mat and bib down and pop the BÖRJA bowls, plates and spoons into the dishwasher.

Make food prep part of the eating experience

Let your child get a good look at what’s going on in the kitchen when you’re preparing their food so they can see how their meals are made. Luckily, the ANTILOP highchair is lightweight and easy to move from place to place, so you can set it up in the kitchen near the worktop.

Get them kitted out in a KLADDIG bib so they’re fully mess-proofed and give them something small to chew on while they enjoy the view!

Keep your baby supplies handy

Make sure you have two or three sets of bibs, bowls, spoons and cups so you always have at least one set clean, ready to go, whatever the day’s meals may bring.

Our tip: a utility cart can be your friend here! Make it the place to keep all your baby's feeding supplies. Putting them all in mobile storage means that they are always handy and together and can be simply moved over to the table when it’s time to eat.

Now there’s a new head of the table!

Yes, it may be chaotic sometimes, but it’s a small price to pay for the joy of seeing your little one get to grips with the serious business of eating.  

As they get more skilled with a spoon, you can start to introduce more advanced eating tools like children’s cutlery. And our soft bibs have adjustable necks so they can accommodate a growth spurt or two.  

One thing is always guaranteed – as well as the the mess – with your baby at the table, mealtimes will always be fun!
