Birch is a straight-grained and light-coloured hardwood with light brown knots. Over time the colour goes from cream to light amber.

My 2nd purchaseAnonymous reviewerThis is my second time purchasing this item—I loved the aesthetic and versatility of the first one so much that I got another for the kitchen. When placed together, the two units look even better and really enhance the space. However, a major concern is the quality of the plastic wheels. On my first unit, they gradually degraded and eventually disintegrated over time. Unfortunately, this seems to be a recurring issue, as I’ve noticed the same thing with IKEA beds that come with wheels. I genuinely hope IKEA will consider improving the wheel durability in future versions. The design is excellent, but long-term usability hinges on that one weak point.3
