A family room where Scandinavian heritage meets modern living

Welcome to a cosy family room that parents and a tween can all love. There’s a place for everyone and what they want to do – even for sleepovers. Scandinavian heritage shines through in the colours and natural materials, for example, but with a contemporary twist.

Storage with its own unique look

There’s plenty of storage for the whole family. We painted the pine IVAR cabinet and MOPPE mini chests of drawers the same colour as the wall, adding a modern vibe to traditional style. Together with red pieces like KRÖNIKÖR open storage, they create a tone in tone effect that helps the room feel uncluttered.

Personalise your storage with a paintbrush!

Want to give untreated wooden storage like this a different look? Why not use TRIXIG paint or TRIXIG wood treatment oil? Both protect the wood, making it more durable, too.

A sofa that can also work nights

A sofa-bed like this one makes having overnight guests easy, for example, sleepovers for tweens. Its pinewood strengthens the Scandinavian character of the room. And you’re never too old to love a cuddly SKOGSDUVA soft toy. It’s a lynx from the forest – so it feels right at home here with all the wooden furniture.

Comfort, cosiness and personality

Textiles are a wonderful way to soften up your home and help it reflect your taste and personality. And they have lots of practical benefits, too. This woollen TIDTABELL rug adds comfort for your feet. While the KORGMOTT block-out curtains are perfect for people who are sensitive to light during sleep.

A little haven just for you

Even in a family room you can still create your own space to enjoy a hobby or just some me-time. Here, you can relax in a timeless PERSBOL armchair with its thick, comfy seat cushion. A throw and an extra cushion make it cosier and add a more modern touch to the style. Placed next to the big windows, and with wooden furniture and a woolen rug so prominent, this little spot feels like you’ve brought the outdoors into your home.

A timeless, easy-going family room

Warm and inviting, this is a room that all the family can enjoy relaxing in. Textiles add cosiness and make it more personal. The colour scheme is simple but striking, reflecting Scandinavian heritage but with a playful, modern feel. A RISBYN pendant lamp shade adds the final touch. Its organic shape and birch details fit in nicely with the furniture and the feeling of connection to nature in the rest of the room.
