The pattern created when waves of the sea meet the shore inspired the design of this hand-knotted wool rug with long fringes. And when you walk on it, it feels like your feet sink into soft sand.

It’s handmade!

This unique piece is a celebration of traditional handicraft blended with contemporary aesthetic. Artisans have given life to the ideas of our IKEA designers using skills passed on through generations. The result is this one-of-a-kind product that bridges ancient techniques with the expressions and lifestyles of today.

Material

What is wool?

Wool is a practical natural material that usually comes from sheep. The raw wool is washed and then spun into yarn. Wool rugs have many advantages. They're soft, warm and comfortable to walk on, and they're also very hardwearing. They're stain-resistant too, because wool has it own natural oil. This means that dirt stays on the surface and doesn't penetrate into the rug. All wool rugs shed - some more, some less - vacuum them regularly to prevent the loose fibres from scattering.

Function solution

Rugs just as unique as your home

Our rugs are different, just like every home. Each one is handmade by skilled artisans using their special weaving technique where the natural materials with different textures, patterns and colours create an authentic feel. These are limited-edition rugs where the design and style are updated frequently. So choose the one that suits your home best and enjoy a unique work of art that can withstand wear and tear for many years.

Form design process

Made using the hand knotting weaving technique

Hand knotting is a complex process that gives unique, long-lasting rugs. A skilled weaver ties individual knots tightly around pairs of threads to form an intricate pattern. After completing each row, the weaver compacts the knots with a comb or beater. The process is repeated until the rug is completed, which takes 7-9 days. Hand knotting creates one-of-a-kind rugs, with intricate patterns that are unmatched by any other technique.
