VIDGA curtain rail system

Find the perfect solution for your home

Enjoy some smoothly gliding curtains! Our track systems for curtains have almost endless customizing possibilities thanks to the single, and double tracks, the straight and cornered alternatives, and different mounting methods. Just cut the rail to the desired length with a hacksaw.

Follow our step by step guide to planning, choosing, installing, and adjusting of our VIDGA track system.

1. Start by measuring your windows

First, measure the width of your window. The width determines how long the curtain rod or rail has to be.

To have enough space when the curtains are open and to completely cover the window when they are closed, add at least 15 cm on each side.

Then you measure the height of your window. The height determines how long the curtains have to be.

Start from the top of the window frame and let the curtains hang down as far as you want them to reach.

Add another 15 cm to the top, as the VIDGA curtain rail must be mounted 15 cm above the window frame.

Tip: Be careful of the material the curtains are made of - some of them can shrink when washed.

2. Decide where you want to install the rail system

Above the window

This shorter wall fitting brings curtains closer to the wall to help block out light and allow a good night’s sleep. This fitting can be used with one rail.

Above the window

This longer wall fitting lets you install curtains in layers or if you'll need more space in case of a window sill. This fitting can be used with a maximum of 5 single track rails or with a combination of rails and rods.

From the ceiling

This ceiling fitting will help you to install curtains in difficult places. You can also use it if you'd like to install a room divider.

3. Choose your rails

Single track rail

Single track rails can hold one pair of curtains. Thinner curtains like sheer curtains are best used for decorative elements but still let in enough light. Darker and heavier curtains like block out are making rooms darker and filter a lot of light ad sounds.

Multiple track rail

If you want to combine several curtains to create layers, it's done best with 2 or more single tracks. You can vary how dark or light a room should be and combine a layer of sheer curtains with a top layer of decorative or block out curtains. More layers can also help dampen street sounds and work as a natural barrier to heat or cold from outside.

Corner track rail

With this clever corner piece, you can either extend your curtain track rails around corners or you can use them as an end piece to prevent light seeping in from the sides.

4. Installing curtains

VIDGA glider can easily be installed in the rail and the little hooks can simply be attached to gathering tape of the curtains. One pack is enough for a pair of curtains.

Our RIKTIG hooks are suitable for curtains with heading tape and can be easily combined with VIDGA gliders.  One pack is enough for a pair of curtains.

If you want to combine track rail curtains and eyelet heading curtains, you can add a curtain rod holder. This holder can be combined with RÄCKA curtain rods.
