Not upto the mark of IKEAManojGood for seating, poor fir sleeping, very bad not expected from IKEA1
Uncomfertable to sit and sleepChetanThe material used for seeting is loose and while sleeping it bends inside which makes sleeping uncomfertable. It should have been more stiffer.1
Convenient and ComfortableCyrilVery easy to convert from sofa to bed and is quite comfortable, both as a sofa and a bed. Though the mattress is a bit thin, it is still comfortable to sleep on. Simple and economical solution for those sudden requirements of an extra bed for guests5

Good ProductMasoodproblem with accessories, out of the 3 pcs I bought, from one of the cartoons, some of the accessories are missing from the sealed packet, like washers and screw bolt (2 washers and a medium size screw were missing. I suggest a stringent QA/QC to be performed. I had taken taken the PKGs 300 KM to use in my Farm.4

holes not aligned - screws not going in. impossible to assemble.Anonymous revieweri bought a Hammarn sofa-bed and tried to assemble it myself but at the very end of the process i found that four crucial bars had mis-aligned holes and could not be screwed together to complete the assembling. the sofa-bed is lying incomplete - taking up valuable space. how can ikea do such a thing - holes in the wrong places. now they are forcing me to either return it or pay a hefty sum to call in a wify or urban company guy to do it for me. this is misleading and cheating - when they say - self assembly - i should be able to do it myself. if it needs professional assembly they should state so clearly. ikea cannot even get four holes to align. pathetic. Rs 11, 000/ + wasted and a piece of junk littering valuable space in my small apartment. thank you ikea.1

It's an OK product.Anonymous reviewerIt's an OK product. Works as mentioned BUT not recommended for daily use. It can be used when you have guests staying overnight. I'm not sure how long the tense fabric will last as it takes the entire load. The frame is sturdy though.3

The speediest way from sofa to bed

Have you ever had one of those evenings where time just seemed to speed up? Somehow the clock wound forward and you've got to make the decision whether to stay or go home. That’s when sleeping arrangements usually are made and the evening is paused to pump up a mattress, or sort out a sofa. This is one of the moments the HAMMARN sofa bed was designed for. It takes 30 seconds (that's if you do it slowly) to go from sofa to bed, is lightweight and light on the wallet too. The secret: simplicity.

Sandra Johansson and Jonas Hultqvist were part of the development team. "A tight target does wonders for creativity," Sandra says. "To get the cost to where we wanted it, we realized we couldn't rely on what we'd done before, or what else was out there." Most things had to be rethought. "We were inspired by old camping beds as they're so economical in materials and need to be easy to move," Jonas says. "So we asked ourselves, could we build a sofa bed with stretch fabric like a camping bed?"

No compromise on comfort

Camping beds are not always very comfortable, though. "What's often a problem when using stretch material," Jonas says, "is that it can bow in the middle and you end up sleeping on each other rather than next to each other." The solution: easily tightened screws that keep the fabric tension at the right level.

A speedy transition

The next challenge was working out a good way to transition between sofa and bed, while keeping costs low. "We designed a mattress that could fold into 3 parts,” Sandra says. “In sofa mode you sit on two parts and have the third as a backrest. Then when you fold the bed out, you can fold the mattress out in the same way." HAMMARN quickly transforms from sofa to bed and weighs only 26 kilos. It seems sometimes simplicity is the best innovator.
