Azim Premji university​

Azim Premji university campus at Bengaluru is reflective of their vision to embody openness, foster a spirit of care, an exemplary learning environment, and a vibrant campus life. The campus is located on the outskirts of Bengaluru, they had worked towards building a sustainable campus.​​

Their team aimed to develop a space that is both functional and inspirational for students, and we had the opportunity to design the activity rooms for their student residence. This collaboration was successful, spotlighting the transformative power of design with IKEA products.

LANDSKRONA 3-seat sofa, Gunnared dark grey – IKEA​ ​ ​ The reading lounge was crafted with the reader’s comfort in mind. In this informal setting, we arranged cozy clusters using armchairs and sofas. We choose the Landskrona sofa, its soft finish and the tight fit gives this sofa a perfect balance between its comfort, functions and look.
KUDDARNA Seat cushion, outdoor, grey, 62x62 cm (243/8x243/8") – IKEA​ ​ When designing the meditation room, our focus was on creating a light, minimal space with neutral colours to foster a pleasant atmosphere. The Kuddarna cushion is ideal for multi-use. Its Anti-slip dots keep the cushion in place so you can lay back and relax. The colour stays fresh for longer as the cover is fade resistant.
ÖSTANÖ Chair, black Remmarn/dark grey – IKEA​ ​ In the study room, we considered its role in supporting group discussions. Thus, we chose lightweight, easily movable chairs to provide students with flexibility. The Ostano Chair has a slim design that blends in without taking up too much visual space in the room, yet sturdy enough. You can sit comfortably for a long time at the table since the angle of the backrest provides good lumbar support.
EKENÄSET Armchair, Jonsbyn black – IKEA​ ​ The common lounge area is anticipated to be frequently utilized for activities such as waiting and lounging. So, we choose Ekenaset armchairs which has a high resilience foam in the seat and back makes the armchair regain its shape when you stand up making it perfect for common area. ​The elegant, fixed cover has a perfect fit that will last over time.
FRÖSÖN/DUVHOLMEN Back cushion, outdoor, dark grey, 62x44 cm (243/8x173/8") – IKEA​ ​ Observing students preference for sitting on the floor while studying, we crafted an environment that allows comfortable learning for both group tasks and individual assignments. The selected cushion colour stays fresh for longer as the fabric is fade resistant.​ The cushion has a longer life, since it can be turned over and used on both sides.
ANFALLARE / MITTBACK Desk, bamboo white, 140x65 cm (551/8x255/8") – IKEA​ ​ This dedicated art and creativity room is perfectly equipped with the ideal table to complement the space.​ Mittback trestle has a tilt function that helps you get the comfort you need to unleash your creativity which is good for writing, painting or drawing. Plenty of room on the shelf under the trestle for your bag, books or papers.
VEDBO Armchair, Gunnared dark grey – IKEA​ ​ Vedbo armchair is ideal when you want to relax in your own space in an open environment, yet still want the opportunity to socialise with others when you like. The cover in dark grey adds elegance and style.​

Working with Azim Premji University on the student residence project was seamless and rewarding. We were tasked with designing five different activity rooms, replicated across multiple floors and a common lounge area.
