Transform your walls from bare to beautiful.

How do you make your mark on a space if you don’t plan on sticking around for long? Instead of painting or drilling holes in the walls, get inspired by this quick-fix DIY idea and decorate with artificial flowers.

Get creative with wall art

Calling all renters, students, nomads… Treat your walls as a blank canvas, no matter how temporary your space may be! This quick and simple DIY update works on a budget and only requires a few supplies – a pack of colourful washi tape, a pair of scissors and your pick from a range of artificial flowers.

This idea was a happy accident! I tried hanging a bunch of flowers upside down but it didn’t work. I took the bouquet apart and realised I could get more creative with individual cuttings.

Your new faux favourites

Why artificial flowers? Well, they’re just as beautiful as real ones and can be reused time after time. “I love bringing nature indoors but won’t buy fresh flowers for myself as it’s not good for the planet. If I receive them as a gift, I find unique ways of displaying them alongside my artificial ones – not just in a vase,” says Julia.

Easy set up and take down

Each stem is fixed to the wall using washi tape, making it easy to put up and even easier to take down. When it’s time to move on, artificial flowers take up hardly any packing space (no need for bubble wrap) and when it’s time to bring them out again, you can reinvent the design on your fresh blank canvas!
