Choose your colour scheme

Change is great. Easy change is even better! That’s the beauty of textiles. You can give your bedroom a dream new look just by changing your bedspread. In this bedroom we wanted to create two looks, keeping owner Marcia’s love of monochrome as the base for both. Look one takes a patterned black and white duvet and layers up the warmth with tactile textiles like velvet cushions and knitted throws.

You can really have fun with textiles. There are so many different types – cushions, curtains, bedding, rugs. And all the wonderful colours and patterns. It’s a nice way to play with style and see what you like in your home without spending too much.

Experiment with pattern and colour

If you’re stuck on how to start, be inspired by the season. Our second look reflects summer’s heat with richer colours and patterns. A tip to help you mix colours is to find a pattern you like. Pick out its key colours and use them in your textile mix. Here, we used the pink, orange and gold in the NÄBBFLY cushion. Add a riot of cushions and throws to turn the heat up to a level that suits you.

When we moved to this apartment two years ago, I started to get interested in DIY and interiors – I love the difference it can make to how you feel in your home. I’m really enjoying getting ideas and trying out new things to make our home better.
