Home visit: 3 ways to customise your REGOLIT lamp
Give the classic paper lampshade a style update with easy-to-try ideas that add a personal twist to your home.
Look around you for inspiration
Customising everyday objects is an easy way to turn the things you see, touch and use each day into something extra special. Need creative inspiration? Take your lead from things you already use to decorate your home. When Katty was planning to decorate her REGOLIT lamps, she mirrored the monochrome pattern on the strip of wallpaper hanging in her family room.
A little imagination and a bit of paint…
Paint, ink, washi tape… Customising should be like a fun school project – no rules, just reconnecting with your creativity. “I see the creativity in my son Lucas (5) and it helps me appreciate it in myself,” says Katty. Your tools don’t need to be expensive. Just match them to your task and skill (making patterns with washi tape is super easy). For Katty’s lamps, we used children’s MÅLA paints.
You don’t have to be an artist – I wouldn’t say I’m good at art, but I do love it. For this geometric pattern, assemble the lamp before you start painting on your lines, it makes it easier.”

Put your stamp on it
Katty created three designs for her lamps. The quickest only needs paint and a roller. Load the roller with paint then roll it round the assembled lamp. Depending on the effect you want, go neat for full colour, or freehand for a more distressed look. Ink stamps are another easy way to get creative! Pick your stamp pattern, add paint or ink (Katty used the roller to apply) then get stamping!
