ÄNGLATÅRAR - A tribute to India

ÄNGLATÅRAR is the second textile collection created as an ode to India. IKEA brought together two talented young designers from India and Sweden to bring this diverse range to life.

This 100% cotton sofa cover is easy to keep clean as it is removable and can be machine washed.

The cushion's shape provides comfortable support when you want to curl up in the corner of the sofa

Textiles with attitude

With its diverse materials and textures, bold patterns, striking colours, and optimistic spirit, ÄNGLATÅRAR is a collection that will look beautiful in any home.

The design journey

Surprising synergy

At IKEA we believe that working together can reveal new perspectives. So the idea of having designers from two-textile obsessed cultures seemed like the right thing to do. Part of their design process included scanning the painted brush strokes. They then manipulated them – tearing, crinkling, and mixing and matching the pieces

Pattern recognition

It’s hard to deny the captivating power of this pattern. It draws you and creates curiosity with its optimistic, modern, yet familiar feel.

Meaningful colours

The colour Indigo has a rich and interesting history. Loved and used widely, it has insipired creativity all over the world, yet is Indian at heart. Swedish use what others would discard as a by-product - something Sweden is well known for.

Traditional signs, letters and alphabets sparked a dialogue between the designers enabling deeper understanding of one another. Their bond gave them the confidence to challenge each other and build on each others ideas.
