What is the ideal sleeping temperature?

The best temperature for sleep can vary by individual with most adults finding their perfect temperature is 18.3 degrees Celsius. If you aren’t sure what feels best for you, consider adjusting the thermostat to 20 degrees to see how you sleep, bumping it up or down one degree each night from there if needed to find the most snooze-promoting number. Also consider how your bedding, pyjamas, sunlight coming into the bedroom or a draft might be impacting whether you’re waking up too warm, clutching the blankets or just right.

It’s also important to factor in your body’s natural thermoregulation. While many people wonder if body temperature rises during sleep, it actually decreases by 1-2 degrees while sleeping. This drop in body temperature makes it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep while conserving energy for other important functions the body manages as we rest.

The material that your sheets and other bedding is made from makes a massive difference when it comes to your sleep temperature, as does the composition and TOG of duvets.
