Where does the name IKEA come from?
The name IKEA is composed of the initials of the company’s founder and the first letters of his birthplace and home village.
Ingvar Kamprad founded the company under the name IKEA in 1943 at the age of 17. The I comes from his first name, K from his last name, E from his birthplace Elmtaryd, and A from his home village Agunnaryd.
