How do I use an IKEA gift card or prepaid card when shopping?

This document explains how to redeem IKEA gift cards, prepaid cards or promotional cards when you make a purchase, what special features apply and when newly purchased cards can be used.

  1. Requirements for redemption
    • A IKEA Family Account or IKEA for Business Account
    • A valid gift card, prepaid card, or digital prepaid/promotional card
    • The tickets must have been purchased in Germany, redemption is only possible in Germany.
 
  1. Step-by-step:

a. Logging in

Log in to IKEA.de with your IKEA Family or Business account.

b. Select products

      • Select the items you want.
      • Add it to the cart.
      • Then click on "Proceed to checkout".

c. Choose delivery method

      • Delivery: Delivery by IKEA
      • Pick-up: Pick-up at the store / pick-up station
      • Select the option and click Next.
      • If delivery has been selected, update address.
 

d. Add gift card or refund card

On the payment page:
  • Click on "Add IKEA gift card or prepaid card"
    • Enter
      • 19-digit card number + 4-digit PIN (physical cards / many digital cards)
      • or 16-digit redemption code (digital promotion or credit codes, no PIN required).
For digital prepaid cards:
  • Use the card number and redemption code from the email.
 

e. Complete Payment

    • Accept Terms of Use
    • Click on "Pay"
    • The sum is first blocked and debited after the order is completed.

Automatic credit usage

    • IKEA pulls always the full card balance from

Redemption only in Germany

  • IKEA gift, prepaid and promotional cards can be exclusively in Germany can be used.
  • It is not possible to use it abroad.
 

Redemption in the store

Tickets purchased in Germany can also be used:

When can a new IKEA gift card be redeemed?

That depends on the respective point of sale.
  • Cards purchased directly from the IKEA store can be used immediately after completing the checkout process.
  • Cards from the IKEA gift card online store are usually available about 24 hours after the email is sent.
  • For gift cards purchased through external sales outlets such as petrol stations, supermarkets or Postbank branches, the activation time is usually around 36 hours.
