How does the IKEA kitchen installation service work?
The installation of a new kitchen is an exciting journey. To make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible, it's helpful to understand the process from start to finish. This 4-step guide describes each step and explains what our installation team does and what you need to do to prepare for a successful installation.
- Before booking – Good planning for a successful installation
Careful preparation is the key to a smooth kitchen installation. Before you book the service together with our IKEA kitchen experts, you should consider the following points: - Measuring and planning the kitchen: Successful installation starts with a precise kitchen design. To save time and money, you can of course also measure your kitchen space yourself. If you are not yet familiar with it, it is best to start with our Video instructions for kitchen measurements. Please note, however, that we will not be able to offer you our kitchen sinstallation service, when you do the measuring yourself.
- If you can't take the measurements yourself or want to use the kitchen installation service, you can use our Professional kitchen measurement service. Once you have the measurements, we recommend a planning appointment with our IKEA kitchen experts so that you can create your kitchen design together and discuss the kitchen installation service in detail.
- Prepare the room: The room should be fully prepared in good time before the installation date. Therefore, plan structural measures at an early stage. This includes, among other things, work on walls, windows, doors, ceilings and floors. In addition, all connections (electricity, water, gas) must already be in place at their final position. If you still have an old kitchen and have not booked a separate old kitchen dismantling and disposal service, it must be removed before the installation begins.
- Obtain permits: You are responsible for obtaining any necessary permits or building permits for your project.
- Additional services include: Think about whether you need further support early on. In addition to installation, we offer separately bookable services, such as the dismantling and disposal of your existing kitchen.
- Booking and managing your service
- Book service: The kitchen installation service can only be provided by our IKEA kitchen experts as part of booking a planning appointment. You will receive a binding quote as well as support in making an appointment. If possible, we recommend scheduling the installation as soon as possible after the delivery of your kitchen. At the same time, you should plan a time buffer of at least one day between delivery and assembly so that you can check all items for completeness and damage to the outer packaging.
- Postpone appointment or cancel: If your plans change, you can postpone or cancel the installation date. Please contact the IKEA Customer Service at least 48 hours before the scheduled start of installation to avoid downtime costs. In the event of short-term cancellations or if no one is on site on the installation date, a cancellation fee may apply. Please also note that orders with a booked installation service cannot be changed via "Track and manage order". Therefore, contact our customer service at an early stage.
- During installation – your kitchen is created
Now your dream kitchen becomes reality. On average, kitchen installations take 1 to 3 days.
Please note before starting installation - Check delivery: You are responsible for checking that all items have been delivered complete and undamaged. Missing or damaged parts can cause delays. In this case, inform the IKEA Customer Service.
- Make products accessable: If possible, store all packages and equipment in the kitchen room or in an adjacent room so that the installation team can start right away.
