How does the IKEA kitchen measurement service work?

Our kitchen measurement service is a straightforward process that provides you with the precise basics you need for your kitchen planning. Here's a step-by-step guide on how the service works – from the initial consideration to all the necessary measurements for your kitchen planning.

Good to know: You can use our kitchen measurement service in combination with a kitchen planning appointment with us. It is not possible to simply book room measurement as a stand-alone service.
  1. Plan and prepare.

Think about what your new kitchen should look like: Before you book the kitchen measurement service, it makes sense to think about your new kitchen.
    • Get inspired: Browse our kitchen galleries to get ideas, or try our online kitchen planner to experiment with your planning.
    • Check availability: Make sure the service is available to you.
    • Making the room "measure-ready": In order for the measurements to be accurate, the kitchen must be prepared:
      • Walls and ceilings should be finished (e.g. plasterboard applied).
      • All plumbing, gas and electrical connections must be in their final position.
      • Ideally, the old kitchen has already been removed, but this is not a requirement.
      • The work area must be free, safe and easily accessible for the service technician.
  2. Book and manage an appointment
    • Book an appointment: Once you're prepared, you can book the kitchen measurement service. Contact us by phone on +49 6192 939 9999 (Mon–Sat: 8am–6pm) or via the chat on the IKEA website. Alternatively, you can go to the kitchen department at the IKEA store of your choice. When you book a kitchen planning appointment with our IKEA kitchen experts, we'll organise the kitchen measurement service directly for you.
    • Payment: The kitchen measurement service costs 119 euros. If you choose an IKEA kitchen and it has a value of more than 1,000 euros, the amount for the kitchen measurement service will be deducted from the final price.
    • Changes and cancellations: If your plans change, you can reschedule or cancel your appointment. To do this, simply select the "Cancel" option in the confirmation email you received when you booked online. This must be done at least 48 hours in advance to be eligible for a refund.
  3. Prepare for your appointment

To ensure that the measurement appointment is successful, we ask you to complete the following steps before the arrival of the service technician:
    • Confirmation: The technician will contact you approximately 24 hours before the appointment to confirm the exact time and address.
    • Prepare requirements or restrictions: Have all the information ready that could influence the process – for example, concealed pipes. Also inform the technician about other special features, such as parking facilities or the exact location of your address.
  4. The measurement appointment

An experienced service technician will visit you at home to carry out the measurements.
    • Arrival and duration: The technician will come on the agreed date. The appointment can last up to 120 minutes, depending on the complexity of your kitchen.
    • Tasks of the technician: Photos will be taken and all important details will be captured, including room dimensions, position of windows, doors, obstacles, and all utility connections (water, gas, electricity, and ventilation). Please note that the technician will not be able to answer questions about your kitchen planning. Please feel free to contact our IKEA kitchen experts.
    • Your Role: Please be available during the appointment to point out hidden features and answer questions from the technician.
    • Confirmation of service: After the measurement is complete, you will be asked to sign a form to confirm that the kitchen measurement service has been carried out to your satisfaction.
  5. Acess your measurements and start designing

Once the measurement is complete, you are ready for the next step on the way to your new kitchen.
    • Receive your measurements: You'll usually get the exact kitchen measurements within a few days – both for you and for IKEA.
  6. Next steps: You can now book an appointment for kitchen planning with our IKEA kitchen experts to start designing your dream kitchen. Our IKEA kitchen experts will import the measurement data 1:1 into the planner to ensure a perfect, custom-fit kitchen design.
